O'Hara Staffing Update for the 2018-19 School Year
It is that time of year when we begin working on staffing for the upcoming school year. Sadly, we have three teachers that are leaving us. Miss Pusateri (3rd grade) will be leaving us and moving to Arizona. Ms. Halter (2nd grade) will be leaving us and moving back to Central Oregon.  Señora  Vega will also be leaving us and moving back to Mexico. We wish these three amazing ladies all the best as they move to the next chapter in their lives. We are grateful for their time at O'Hara and the impact they have had on their students.

We are very happy to announce that we have already filled the 2nd grade opening with one of our very own! Mrs. Madison Smith, who has been an instructional assistant with us for the last several years, has recently completed her Masters in Teaching and will be our new 2nd grade teacher. Mrs. Smith is an O'Hara alum. We have posted the 3rd grade opening as well as the opening for a Spanish teacher, grades 4-8. These are both full time positions. If you know of anyone who is qualified and wishes to apply, please have them contact Mrs. Conway

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the Open Door Foundation's 5th Annual  Ladies   Tea  &  Luncheon. We are grateful to  O'Hara parents Lindy Prickel & Landry Cummings for chairing this year's event.
We are thrilled to announce that our 2018 event raised   $17,000 !
We are humbled by your generosity and are thrilled to announce that every penny of this money will provide scholarships for students and families that otherwise would not be able to afford an O'Hara education.
Congratulations to  O'Hara parent, Danielle Guerrero ! She was the winner of our $100 raffle and will enjoy  a night at  The Allison Inn & Spa  along with  two  Day of Indulgence  spa packages. The raffle raised $4,000!  This money will be restricted to help with student expenses such as school supplies, field trip fees, uniform clothing, and athletic fees for O'Hara families that need assistance. What a wonderful privilege to be able to help members of our community who are in need!
Thank you to our Pop- Up shops for spending their afternoon with us, and to our sponsors for their generosity!

Pertussis in Lane County
A message & reminder from Dr. Katie Crenwelge, O'Hara parent & SAC member:
There have been recent cases of pertussis (whooping cough) in our community and it is important to  update vaccinations for pertussis.  The CDC schedule calls for the pertussis vaccine at ages 2 mo., 4 mo., 6 mos., 15-18 mos., 4-5 years, and 11 years (or adults who have never had TDaP).

Teacher Requests
O'Hara Catholic School teachers are dedicated, faith-filled individuals who are devoted to providing the best education possible for the students of O'Hara. For that reason, we ask that parents do not request teachers for the upcoming year. We also ask that you do not approach your students' current teacher and request a teacher for the next year; that puts our staff in an awkward position. We do understand that unique student situations may arise, however these are rare occasions that are handled with the administration. We do ask parents of twins to let us know if they prefer to have their students in the same homeroom or different homerooms.
