Enter to Learn. Go Forth to Serve.
This week is the first week in Advent.
We light one purple candle.
Oh come, Emmanuel!
only you can see into my heart and know
that under all the busy-ness of my life,
there is a deep longing
to make this Advent one that welcomes you
more deeply into my own life.
My heart desires the warmth of your love
and my mind searches for your Light
in the midst of the darkness.
Help me to be a peacemaker this Advent
and to give special love to those
who disagree with me.
Give me the strength and courage
to forgive those who have hurt me.
Help me to free my heart
from the prison of my anger and hurt.
for Hot lunch ordering STARTS TOMORROW
As previously announced, effective tomorrow, our hot lunch ordering process will change as follows:
All lunch orders must be placed online using our
Same day ordering will still be available, however all orders must be placed using the
online ordering system
and the deadline to place a same-day order will be 9am. Due to the restrictions of our software program, payments online can be made via credit card, debit card or a PayPal account; we can no longer accept cash or check. The O'Hara front office will no longer be able to accept hot lunch orders via phone or email. This change streamlines our process, eliminates miscommunication and decreases wasted food and cost.
We never want to see a child go hungry for lunch. Due to this change, we will be unable to offer a hot lunch to a student if the order hasn't been placed by the deadline of 9am. However, if a family has missed the order deadline and their child needs a lunch for the day, the kitchen staff will prepare a sunflower butter and jelly sandwich on whole wheat bread for them and charge the meal at the current lunch rate of $3.95 for PreS-3rd / $4.95 for 4th-8th. The meal will include sides of fruit and/or veggies.
can be found on the O'Hara website, and has also been conveniently placed on the O'Hara app. If assistance is needed in navigating either of the ordering avenues, please reach out to Tracy Whalen, our kitchen manager, at
Toys for Tots
DEADLINE TO DONATE IS TOMORROW
Please bring all donations by 8:05am tomorrow morning! Representatives from the Marine Corps will attend our Monday Morning Assembly tomorrow to collect our donations.
Toys for Tots is an official activity of the United States Marine Corps. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
Over the last few years, O'Hara has been the largest private collection site in Lane County! We are grateful for your support in our efforts to help the Marine Corps and our local fire departments to collect and hand out toys to children in Lane County this Christmas season.

Everyone is invited to attend the parent prayer group gathering to pray the rosary after drop off on
Wednesday, December 6th!
What is the
? The rosary is a way to structure prayer and focus on different aspects of Jesus' life through Mary's perspective. Catholics have been using the rosary since the 1200's when St. Dominic taught people how to pray using the rosary beads!!
Mark your calendars for

Feast of the Immaculate Conception Mass is FRIDAY
This Friday, December 8, is our Feast of the Immaculate Conception Mass and a Holy Day of Obligation; we hope you will join us.
All students are required to wear Uniform Mass dress.
Please read below for details.
Mass Dress Requirements
must wear a white button down, collared shirt, and a uniform tie, with khaki or navy uniform pants. Shorts are not permitted.
All girls must wear one of the following:
Uniform skirt & white button down shirt
Uniform jumper with white shirt underneath
*Collars are required
*No pants or shorts are permitted
Please remember, students will not be permitted to change clothes after Mass. The disruption and delay to our school day caused by the large number of students changing clothes necessitates this rule. (Students that have PE on Friday will be permitted to change clothes; and boys are permitted to remove their ties to store them in backpacks.) Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
What is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and why is it a Holy Day of Obligation? Watch this awesome video explanation from Fr. Mike Schmitz.

St. Mary volunteers needed
If you are receiving tuition subsidy from St. Mary Catholic Church and are looking for a way to fulfill your subsidy requirement, please consider volunteering for Sunday hospitality:
Sunday coffee & donut hospitality is in need of volunteers: there are a couple shifts that need to be filled.
It is typically a 1 hour commitment; once a month helping after each service.
It is a fun and easy way to complete subsidy hours while building community and getting to know others who share your faith.
If you can help, please contact Carolina Jackson at email@example.com or (541) 704-8301.
VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED!
We could still use a few volunteers with flexibility on days, and a sub (someone we can call on if we have a volunteer who cannot make it due to being sick, etc.) Please let Tracy Whalen know if you are able to help.
