OACAA adamantly opposes US Department of Agriculture's SNAP rules

(12/4/2019) The U.S. Department of Agriculture's new rules, set to go into effect on April 1, 2020, will impact nearly 700,000 adults between ages 18 and 49. OACAA adamantly opposes this new rule believing many will suffer from the change.

(12/13/2019) —OACAA commends U.S Sen. Rob Portman for his efforts to fight evictions for Ohioans and others across the country. The newly introduced legislation,  Eviction Crisis Act  , sponsored by Sen. Portman (R-OH) and Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO), aims to prevent and mitigate evictions for families while also improving data collection to gain a better understanding of the issues leading to eviction. >>> READ MORE

Great Lakes Community Action Partnership , an organization that creates partnerships and opportunities to help individuals, families and communities thrive, today announced that it has been selected to receive a $1.25 million grant from the Day 1 Families Fund.  >>> READ MORE

Miami Valley Community Action Partnership organizes the event annually.

According to Preble County Director Janelle Caron, the event is possible through donations from community members and organizations. The meal allows for socializing and gives those less fortunate a place to have a warm meal.

Brown announces more than $95k for home repairs in Pickaway
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a $95,152.82 grant the Pickaway County Community Action Organization (PICCA) to help Ohio families make critical home repairs, including energy efficiency upgrades.

“Ohioans shouldn’t have to choose between roof repairs or buying groceries,” Brown said. “This grant will help families in Pickaway County get the resources they need to keep their homes safe.” >>> READ MORE
