OSU's Management Advancement for the Public Service program is now offering professional development courses to provide strategies to participants who serve low-income individuals. The 100% virtual, 1/2 day coursework also provides CEUs to those interested.

The eviction moratorium misnomer and the impact of IMPACT

COLUMBUS - That money came in handy for a number of Columbus tenants at the courthouse last week, including 31-year-old Americus Clinkscale, who lost income when the call center where she worked cut her hours during the pandemic. Clinkscale arrived at the convention center with her young daughter expecting that Oakland Realty would evict her for nonpayment of rent, but instead she received $2,805 in rental assistance from IMPACT and a payment agreement with her landlord that allowed her to stay in her apartment. She previously had never heard of IMPACT.

Advocates make case for more transportation funding

Advocates are urging lawmakers to invest more money into Ohio’s public transportation systems and commit to long-term support for this transit spending.

Kelly Hatas, executive director of Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, told state senators about how state funding has gone toward expanded transit service in the Southeast Ohio communities of Nelsonville (pop. 5,130) and Albany (pop. 824).

Clark County offers free rides to vaccination appointments

The Clark County Combined Health District, Clark County Springfield Transportation Coordinating Committee and Springfield Area Transit Authority are working to provide the rides to the COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Upper Valley Mall.

Opportunities Industrialization Center of Clark County and the county health district are partnering to provide funding for the effort.
