Neighborhood Placemaking and Beautification: Projects and Partnerships for OB

A main focus of Old Brooklyn CDC in recent years has been the implementation of projects to create vibrant public spaces in the neighborhood. Many of these projects, including public art installations, have been made possible through partnership across different sectors ranging from small businesses to funders. Below are 2 highlights of past and upcoming projects and partnerships that have had an impact on Old Brooklyn in 2025.

Summer of Service and Transformation

This summer, over 150 volunteers from across the country helped revitalize homes in Old Brooklyn - repairing porches, painting exteriors, and bringing fresh life to our neighborhood. In June, 70 volunteers tackled multiple homes, followed by 80 more in July who worked on six additional properties. Thank you for your support!

Beyond the Market: Discover What’s Around the Corner

If you've been to our Farmers Market you might have seen our new Beyond the Market map. This initiative is to encourage market goers to visit brick and mortar businesses along Pearl and Broadview Road after they are finished at the market.

One of the businesses featured on the map is From the Lobby, located in the lobby of In Session, a therapy studio dedicated to making mental health care more accessible. And just like therapy, From the Lobby believes that small things, a kind word, a familiar scent, a little treat, can make a big difference. 5% of every purchase directly funds affordable therapy with their partners at In Session.

Join From the Lobby at their grand opening on August 2nd from 10am-8pm! Stay up to date with @from.the.lobby on Instagram to learn about pop-ups and other events. Check out the Old Brooklyn Farmers Market every Thursday through September 25th from 5-8pm.

Help Make the Magic Happen - Volunteer with OBCDC!

OBCDC’s event season is in full swing and it’s never been more vibrant! From the lively buzz of the Farmers Market to the energy of Old Brooklyn Nite and OB StreetFest, our neighborhood comes alive thanks to the power of community. Behind every successful event is a team of dedicated volunteers who help set up, staff the beer garden, sell merch, share resources, keep things running smoothly and much more!

Want to be part of it? We’re looking for community-minded folks to join us. Whether it’s a few hours at the market or helping us pull off our biggest festival of the year. It takes nearly 200 volunteers to make Old Brooklyn Nite and OB StreetFest happen, and 9 each week to keep the market going strong.

Your time makes a real impact and we’d love to have you on the team. Click the button below to join us.

Beyond the Ballot: Real Talk on Local Change

Cleveland VOTES and Signal Cleveland invite you to Elections Unfiltered, a conversation about voting and accountability where residents can share their priorities for their neighborhoods ahead of the 2025 municipal elections. It’s also an opportunity to ask questions – and get answers – about past promises made by local government officials. Cleveland VOTES and Signal Cleveland will also provide information on voting and new ward boundaries. The next conversation will be held on Aug. 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 787 Market Café at 6105 Memphis Ave. in Cleveland. Refreshments will be provided. Translation is available for residents who speak Spanish.
