Patrick Griffin's first Sunday will be October 22. That morning he will be speaking at our Men's Breakfast, visiting Sunday School classes, and assisting in worship. We look forward to welcoming him and Nicole into our fellowship.

How is your Brain?

Ironically, we do not think about our brain health until it does not work exactly as it always has. The brain is just like all the muscles in our body, and it needs your attention too! Come enjoy an interactive presentation designed to not only teach brain health techniques, but also have fun doing them. This presentation will be led by Marti Colucci, speaker, educator, and consultant focused on brain health and Alzheimer’s prevention. Lunch is $10 per person.

Fall Round-Up

Call your friends you haven't seen in a while and invite them to come back. Invite someone new to join you for worship. If you haven't been here in a while, make November 12 the day you return!

Families of our homebound friends are urged to bring your loved ones and worship with them, however, if you need transportation, contact Eddie Ramsey ([email protected]).

Veterans Day Luncheon

Sunday, November 12

The Military Task Force invites you to attend a luncheon following worship on November 12, 2023, in the gym. Complementary meals will be provided for OBC veterans and spouses, parents and grandparents of active military personnel, as well as widows of OBC veterans. Invitations will be mailed in late October.

We hope that other members and friends of OBC will join us as we honor our veterans and their families on this very special holiday. Make your reservations ($10 each) by CLICKING HERE.

Church Basketball at OBC

The York County Christian Basketball Association (YCCBA) is preparing for another season of children's and youth basketball. Some youth games will begin in December, but all others will begin in January with children's teams playing on Friday nights and youth teams playing on Saturdays. Each team will practice once during the week on a day selected by the coach.

Fees:

5 - 9 years old = $40/player

10 years old and over = $55/player

Wednesdays Around the Table

Our youth and adults will gather around the tables in the gym for the conversations listed below. Our children will meet in Room 141 for Bible Study. There are also opportunities to be an ESL volunteer.

October 25: It's Missions Month! Leigh Reynolds and Jeff Hayes will lead us in conversations about the mission and ministries of CBF Field Personnel around the world.

November 1: Rev. Nell Green will be with us, sharing how the creation of Threads by Nomad and The Off Ramp are empowering refugees while celebrating diversity through design in the United States and around the world. She will also have a selection of items available for purchase.

November 8: Rev. Lee Ann Livingston, Chaplain at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, will lead us in a conversation about coping with grief during the holidays.

November 15: Our Finance Committee will lead us in a conversation about the 2024 proposed budget in preparation of voting to approve it on November 19.

November 22: NO Wednesday Night Meal or Activities. Happy Thanksgiving!

November 29: Jeff Hayes and Leigh Reynolds will lead us in an introduction to our Advent theme.



Wednesday Night Dinner

October 25: World Series Themed Meal! All Beef Hot Dogs with all the toppings, Tater Tots, Nachos, Pretzels, Salad Bar, and Ice Cream.

November 1: Lasagna, Italian Salad, Breadsticks, and Brownies.

*Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches with chips and fruit is always available for children.

Meeting at OBC not Pleasant Ridge

October 21, 8:30AM - Noon

For our Day of Service with Pleasant Ridge Baptist, we are meeting in our gym at 8:30AM on Saturday for biscuits and a devotion. We will then divide into three work groups. All of the groups should be finished by 11AM. You may choose to participate in any of the following projects.

Litter Pick-Up - this group will be practicing good stewardship of the earth God has given us by picking up litter from the blocks surrounding OBC. Necessary supplies will be provided.

Hygiene kits - this group will be staying at the church and assembling feminine hygiene kits for Rock Hill High School to provide to students who do not have these items.

Miracle Park Cheerleaders - this group we will be making posters and then going to Miracle Park to cheer on the awesome athletes.
