A Note From Pastor Jeff...

Dear Oakland family,

Four things I want to share with you in this week’s Update.

First, this past Sunday, November 15th, marked the first time we have enjoyed in-person worship in our Sanctuary since March 15th—exactly 35 weeks ago! I must admit, it felt good to be back in the building and worshipping with real, live, flesh and blood people sitting in the pews! Thank to everyone who attended! More importantly, thank you for following our safety protocols. Everyone did a great job to provide a safe and calming environment.
Second, I know many of you chose to worship through Livestream or viewed the recorded service at a different time. That is perfectly okay! Please be reminded that no one should feel guilty or judged over how they choose to worship in this unique time. Like many of you, I stay informed about the number of positive COVID cases and, whether you choose to worship in the building or at home, I want you to take every precaution you feel necessary to stay healthy. You are of best service to God and OBC when you are well!
Third, I am very grateful to the many people who have diligently been working on our Audio/Visual improvement project. Specifically, we owe a great deal of gratitude to Phillip Reynolds and Marty Mobley for their expertise and long working hours to make sure this project is a success. While there are still some loose ends to tie up, if you viewed Livestream or any of our recorded services from this past Sunday you noticed the improved audio and visual quality of the broadcast. Job well done gentlemen!
Finally, the Advent and Christmas seasons are upon us and I am looking forward to what they hold for our spiritual growth. Please make sure to pick up an Advent bag from the church or call the office to have one delivered to your house. The staff has done a wonderful job piecing together devotions and activities for all ages which will draw you closer to the Christ Child in the seasons ahead.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Jeff
