Words from the Pastor...
It is a new year; and that means new opportunities. For many people these opportunities come in the form of “resolutions.” I’m not one to make resolutions. I prefer setting goals. In the ensuing months, my efforts are spent reaching those goals; though occasionally I come up short. In taking stock of my life, I’ve fallen on the plus side of reaching most of my goals; and when I’ve come up short, I’ve learned valuable lessons.

Oakland has many goals we hope to achieve and many opportunities that lie ahead of us in this new year. With God’s help and your faithfulness, we will fall on the plus side of reaching our goals. And just to be clear—I  know  you will be faithful because that’s who you have proven to be over and over. I am looking forward to our ONE worship at 10:30AM this Sunday as we talk about the state of our church and our goals for the year. After worship, we will enjoy a potluck lunch together.

One final word—many in our church are beginning this new year with surgeries, procedures, and heartache. Pray for each of them in the coming days. As always, it is a privilege to serve as your pastor. -Jeff

Ladies Bible Study
Mondays @ 9AM

Our Monday morning ladies Bible study is beginning a new study this Monday. Join us at 9AM in the Parlor as we study Everything Belongs by Richard Rohr. This book promises to challenge us to move beyond the comfort of a settled life toward an understanding of ourselves that is rooted in our connection to God.

"Only when they rest in God can they find the certainty and the freedom to become all that they can be."
Constitution & Bylaws
Upcoming Changes

Hello Oakland Baptist Church Members,

At the Sunday afternoon Church Business Meeting on January 13th, an announcement will be made concerning revisions to the Constitution and Bylaws. This announcement – with subsequent discussion (January 16) and vote (January 20) – will follow the process specified in the Constitution. However, since the documents, in total, are several pages long, we have made copies available ahead of time. Digital copies of the revised Constitution and Bylaws and of a Redline version of the document may be viewed and/or printed by clicking on the links for each. Printed copies are available, if needed, at the church office.

The Constitution and Bylaws revisions were endorsed by the Fellowship of Deacons on November 18. A Church vote is required for approval of the Constitution and Bylaws revisions.

Happy New Year and good reading!
