Wear Orange Event
Saturday @ 2PM

On Saturday, June 8th, the Rock Hill community will recognize individuals and communities impacted by gun violence by hosting a Wear Orange event at the Freedom Center (215 E. Main Street). This event will demonstrate commitment to reduce gun violence in our country while celebrating and sharing stories of success in this complex endeavor. This is a family-friendly event with kids' crafts, speakers, community resources, food and more. To read more about this event, click below.

We also encourage you to wear orange on Sunday as we seek to bear witness to gun violence.
New Church Directory

Exciting new things are coming your way this summer! We will soon have a new, much more functional app that will allow you to look up people's contact information, find out about events, download forms and so much more! In order for the contact section of our app to be up to date, we need new pictures! And as an added bonus we will get a new directory (digital and print versions will be available) which will help us all put names to the friendly faces we pass in the hallways.

We invite, encourage, NEED you to come have your picture taken. Don’t worry, there will be no high pressure sales at the end of the photography session! You will receive a free 8x10 photograph. While you are at church having your picture taken we will also connect you to our new app and make sure all of your contact information is up to date.

Click below to sign up for one of the photography sessions.
After you click on the link, enter sc190 as the church code and obc as the password. You can then click on the date you would prefer which will open a page with all of the time slots. Click the paper/pencil icon to the right of the time slot you are signing up for.

On Sunday, June 23 we will consider how we are called to live a life stewardship. We encourage you to use this Sunday as an opportunity to catch up on your tithes and even consider an additional gift. It is your faithful stewardship that allows mission and ministry of Oakland Baptist Church to continue to grow.
June 16-22

We are hosting Family Promise June 16 - 22 and we still NEED overnight hosts! This is an easy volunteer opportunity that can be shared with the whole family. As on overnight host, you arrive at OBC by 8PM, hang out in the Fellowship Hall for a couple hours, and then go to sleep! It's really that easy.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to get to know some of our Family Promise guests. There are two rooms for overnight hosts, so you can sign up as an individual or a family. Please click the link below to sign up. If you have any questions, contact Karen Neal (nealkaren@bellsouth.net).

From the Cremation Garden Committee

The Oakland Baptist Cremation Garden is designed to be a place of beauty and holiness for the placement of ashes of the deceased. In 1992 the church was very fortunate to have been given a lovely gift of funds by Martha and George M. Hearn.  With that money the church voted to establish a place  to the right of the Family Life Center off of Alexander Road.

If you or a loved one choose to be cremated a scattering area is an interesting option to consider when deciding what to do with the ashes. It is a beautiful area with flowers and plants.  It has a small seating area for those who wish to have access to a solemn place to sit and reflect. For more information, contact the church office or pick up a newly revised Cremation Garden pamphlet found in the information rack near the Church office.
Click the button below for an electronic copy of our current Ministry Guide. Within the Ministry Guide you will find an outline of our goals for the year as well as information about many of our opportunities and activities.

Congratulations to Betty and Hartwell Hildebrand as they celebrate their 65th Wedding Anniversary on June 13th!
Week after week, month after month, year after year, Mary Ann Hoffman has driven to Harris Teeter to pick up bread and pastries. She delivers these items to the Ministry Center on Saturdays and to Farrow Place on Sundays for the residents there who are usually waiting to help unload Mary Ann’s car. Sometimes it is one shopping cart of items, but sometimes it is three which requires a good bit of maneuvering. Her dedication and cheerfulness in providing this wonderful service is greatly appreciated by all recipients, and, of course by Oakland Baptist Church. Thank you, Mary Ann! ~submitted by Gerald Allen
