Advent Workshop - December 1
Workshop, 4PM-4:45PM
Worship, 5PM-5:30PM

Join us for an afternoon of activities and worship as we prepare ourselves for the journey through Advent. There will be an opportunity to make a special Christmas decoration that will help you and your family focus on the true joy of the season. There will also be craft and storytelling stations for children. We will end our time with worship which will include a Moravian Lovefeast (cider and hot cross buns). We are asking that each family make a $5 donation at the Advent Workshop to offset the cost of supplies. Please click the button below to let us know if you plan to attend the Workshop and/or Worship.
Celebration Worship
November 17

Join us at 8:45AM or 11AM on November 17 for a special time of worship as we celebrate the completion of the first book in James Bryan Smith's The Good and Beautiful series . We have loved hearing about the wonderful and transformative conversations that have taken place in your Sunday School classes and small groups, and look forward to celebrating that together in worship.

If you missed some of the sermons, or would like to hear them again, they can be viewed by CLICKING HERE.
2020 Budget & Nominating Committee Vote
November 10

On Wednesday, November 6 the Finance Committee presented the 2020 proposed budget. On Sunday, November 10, during both worship services, we will vote to approve the 2020 Budget and the Nominating Committee Report.

Below are links to a letter from Jeff, the 2020 proposed budget and the Nominating Committee report. Absentee ballots will be available in the office beginning Monday.
Christmas at Connie Maxwell

Christmas has started, and not just at Hobby Lobby. This past Sunday we began the distribution of Connie Maxwell gift tags. With 104 residents at the facility, we managed to distribute about 65% of the 208 gift tags. Tags will be available again on Sunday. We are hopeful the remaining tags will be “claimed” in the near future so that we can try to fulfill a request for each of the 18 cottages. Wrapped gifts (in boxes) are due back to Oakland no later than Dec.1. As in the previous years, if you are unable to shop but would like to help, please let either the church office or one of us know and we can help with that.

Thank you so much for helping continue this Oakland ministry that began over 25 years ago. “The Janes” Jane Lanford and Jane Rawls
Rock Hill Rocks!
November 12 @ Noon

Join the Merry Makers as they hear a special presentation from Gary Williams about the many ways Rock Hill rocks. This will include details about exciting changes taking place throughout the city. Rock Hill is getting attention across the USA and internationally due to new sporting arenas and other creative economic and growth adventures. Join the Merry Makers in the Fellowship Hall at Noon on the 12th. Please bring finger foods, snacks, sandwiches, drinks, etc to share. After this meeting, if time allows, bingo will be played!
Taste of Oakland Cookbook

As a part of our celebration of Oakland's 70th anniversary we are creating a "Taste of Oakland" Cookbook. Just imagine how many friendships have been formed, hearts have been nurtured, and stomachs have been filled while enjoying pot-luck meals at OBC!

Just like a pot-luck meal isn't complete without each person's dish, our cookbook will not be complete without each person's favorite recipes. Please submit up to four of your favorite recipes (appetizer, side dish, main course, breakfast, dessert, bread, etc) by December 31. You may email your recipes to cookbook@oaklandchurch.com. We are so excited for this Taste of Oakland and look forward to seeing your recipes!
Coping with Grief and Loss
Through the Holidays
November 11 & 18 @ 12:15PM

This will be a 2-session conversation for those who have lost loved ones. Join Jim and Suzanne in the Parlor on Monday if you would like to participate in this conversation.
