Tuesday Night Women's Bible Study
Beginning September 8

He left everything to follow his teacher and possessed a passion that would change the world. That’s one way to describe Peter. Here’s another: poor, uneducated, quick-tempered, and full of doubts and fears. Doesn’t even sound like the same man. And that’s the point of Simon Peter, a six-week Bible study by Adam Hamilton. Peter was just an ordinary guy who heard and followed God’s extraordinary call. Discover how you, too, have special gifts, talents, and abilities that God can use to make a difference today.

Join the Tuesday Night Ladies Bible study starting September 8 from 6:15 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on Zoom. Books can be purchased from Amazon by CLICKING HERE. For more information, contact Shirley Bailey (shholland@comporium.net) or Patti Robinette (probinette1861@gmail.com). We hope to see YOU on September 8! CLICK HERE to sign up.

Encouraging Sullivan Middle School Staff

As the new school year approaches, we have a wonderful opportunity to show love and encouragement to the teachers and administrators at Sullivan Middle School. As part of our ministry partnership with SMS, we would like to provide encouraging, hand-written cards along with a $5 gift card to each faculty and staff member. If you would like to assist with these efforts by writing cards or making a financial contribution, please contact Krista Hayes: 864-814-9835/kristamg79@hotmail.com. Also, let Krista know if you need blank note cards. They can be dropped off by your house. We need these contributions by Tuesday, September 2nd. Please continue to lift up all of our educators in prayer throughout this most unique school year!
Helping our Children and Youth

The way COVID-19 has turned schedules and routines upside down may end up being called an ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences). Parents and other child caregivers can be equipped with understanding of what may lie ahead in the area of mental health for their families. You are invited to view the award-winning documentary "Resilience", coupled with NAMI's "Ending the Silence for Parents" presentation. These FREE opportunities will provide a superb context for proactive learning and discussion. Click the button below for more information.

LIVE reACTions
Wednesdays, 6:30PM - 7:00PM

Join Pastor Jeff and other staff members on Zoom (Meeting ID 713 378 3329) each Wednesday in August for a conversation based on the questions raised in the previous Sunday's sermon. We are excited about the opportunity to learn from the early church and each other!
This past Sunday afternoon, a veteran of Oakland Baptist Church was presented with a Quilt of Valor. Jerry Goodson received the QOV from members of the OBC Military Task Force at his home. The quilt was made by Dan Cox. Jerry served in the Air Force from 1960-1964. He trained in TX and CO before being stationed in Germany for 3 1/2 years to work in intelligence.

Oakland Baptist Church appreciates its veterans. Presenting a QOV to our veterans gives us an opportunity to honor them and say “Thank you for your service” in a very special way. To date, our church has presented 16 Quilts of Valor to veterans of WWII, the Korean Conflict, and some from the Vietnam Era. We owe our veterans so much.

Masking for a Friend

Elastic ties were in short supply, but Dan and Kay Cox have restocked and are back at work. They are sharing their time and talents so we can mask up to protect our friends, family, and neighbors. If you have not already gotten a mask from Dan and Kay, or need a second mask, please click the button below.
