Last Call for Recipes!

Just like a covered dish meal isn't complete without each person's dish, our cookbook will not be complete without each person's favorite recipes.  Please submit up to four of your favorite recipes (appetizer, side dish, main course, breakfast, dessert, bread, etc) by March 15.  You may email your recipes to or drop them off by the church office. We are so excited for this Taste of Oakland and look forward to seeing and making your recipes!

Do you shop on Amazon? If so, we would love for you to connect to our Ama zonSmile account and help us raise funds for our summer youth mission trip. After you connect your account to our AmazonSmile account your shopping experience and prices will be no different than if not using this program. Each quarter, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of all purchases connected to our organization back to us. Click the button below to connect.
Race Relations
Continuing the Conversation

“Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.” MLK, Jr., 1963 Letter from Birmingham Jail

At OBC, we had a much better acceptance than lukewarm at our Race Relations Forum last Wednesday night. Most of us, as white folks, have privileges that we don’t even realize. By understanding this fact, we have an opportunity to work past bewilderment, improve relationships, and show our love for all our neighbors. If you would be interested in discussing what we can do as individuals and as a congregation to show our neighborly compassion, click the button below or contact Mack Bailey at

Romans 15:2 (NIV) Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.
Mother-Son Dance
Volunteer Opportunities

Even if you are not a Mother/Son combo coming to the dance on March 21, there are opportunities for you to get involved! Please consider helping make the FUNdraising event a success by volunteering your time and/or donating snacks. Click the button below for more information and to volunteer.
Mission Movers
March 22

Children (Kindergarten -5th Grade) are invited to a special time of discipleship based on the church-wide study of  The Good and Beautiful God  trilogy which will include an emphasis on missions. The discipleship time will help our children learn what Jesus did and how to follow his example. The mission time will allow our children to put what they've learned into practice. Meet on the 3rd Floor at 5PM.

Palm Sunday Worship
ONE Worship - April 5

Dr. Lester McCorn, the Clinton College President, will deliver our sermon and the Clinton College Choir will be present to provide special music. Sunday School will begin at 9:30AM.

The Clinton College Choir  is the primary performance ensemble for Clinton College. The choir is comprised of students, members of the Clinton faculty, staff and singers from the community who enjoy performing music from a variety of choral music genres. The choir specializes in (but not limited to) the study and performance of sacred music by African American composers. The choir renders music for numerous on-campus, off-campus, and denominational (African American Episcopal Zion Church) events and worship services throughout the academic year.
As long as the Ministry Center has been in existence we have known that it takes many people working many hours to serve our neighbors in need. During February the Ministry Center Committee was intentional to keep up with this information. Take a look at their finding by clicking on the "Ministry Center" below.

If you have never served at the Ministry Center we encourage to come be part of this great ministry! For more information about volunteering, contact Caroline Krueger (
