Summer Sunday School
for young adults

Whether you are a college-age person who permanently lives in the area, are home for the summer or have just graduated and are beginning a career, we hope you will join us as often as you can for Bible study and Fellowship on Sunday mornings from 9:45AM - 10:45AM. We will meet in room B5 (in the basement), beginning May 12. Leigh Reynolds will be teaching this class.
The drop box at the Ministry Center is currently closed to enable volunteers to get caught up on distributing current donations. As you are spring cleaning, please hold your items to donate until the drop box has re-opened. Thank you for your continued support of this great ministry.
Deacon Election
May 19

The time is upon us for election of new deacons to serve as the Class of 2022. This election will take place on Sunday, May 19, during both worship services. If you will be absent on May 19, you may complete an absentee ballot in the church office between now and May 17 at 3:00 PM. This ballot must be completed in the presence of a staff member or currently active Deacon. Thank you for the many ways you continue to be the presence of Christ!

Baccalaureate Worship
June 2

If you have a child who is graduating from high school this year, we hope you will join us for this special day as we honor our graduates during the 11AM worship service. Following worship we will celebrate with them while enjoying lunch in the Fellowship Hall. If you have a graduate and plan to be here for worship and lunch, please let Leigh (lreynolds@oaklandchurch.com) know by May 16.
Do you have a college graduate?

If you have a college graduate, let us know so we can celebrate them in an upcoming Weekly Update! Please send us their photo along with the degree and school from which they received it and any plans they may have, at this point, for upcoming employment. You may email this information to Missy (obcoffice@oaklandchurch.com).
June 16-22

We will be hosting Family Promise June 16 - 22. As you make plans for summer, please consider being an overnight host! This is an easy volunteer opportunity that can be shared with the whole family. As on overnight host, you arrive at OBC by 8PM, hang out in the Fellowship Hall for a couple hours, and then go to sleep! It's really that easy. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to get to know some of our Family Promise guests. There are two rooms for overnight hosts, so you can sign up as an individual or a family. Please click the link below to sign up. If you have any questions, contact Karen Neal (karenneal@bellsouth.net).
The Mission Movers were so excited to deliver over 11,000 soda can tabs to the Ronald McDonald House on Sunday. RMH is able to turn the tabs in for money. This is one of the ways they are able to fund their great program. Thank you to everyone who collected their tabs and brought them to church!

We, the A.P. Calculus students and teachers would like to thank the Oakland Baptist Church family for opening your doors. We felt very welcomed and appreciate the use of the gym and fellowship hall. Because of your generosity, our practice exam was a success. The students were able to receive timely feedback as they prepare for the real exam. Thanks!

Charles and Jeanette Gregory would like to extend a heartfelt thanks for the calls, cards, visits and prayers over the last few weeks during Charles' surgery and recovery.
Hurricane Relief Trip
June 16-21

You are invited to join some of our older youth and adults from OBC for a week in the eastern part of the state, helping a family as they rebuild following the devastation of Hurricane Florence. The exact location will be determined closer to the trip.

We will be working with UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). UMCOR has been on the scene since the waters receded. They have full time staff who will be on site with us each day and guide the work we do. UMCOR provides tools and work materials.

If you are interested in attending this trip or getting more information, please click below or contact Leigh (lreynolds@oaklandchurch.com).
