March 7th Worship Service
Online Only

Psalm 19: This psalm reflects on the glories of God’s creation and then shares that the benefits and blessings of the law that God has given us provides us with wise counsel. Psalm 19 points to God as the source of all knowledge and says, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”
Virtual Communion: During the worship service we will be celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The Session has authorized us to participate in virtual Communion as a visible reminder that Christ’s presence and love are with us even when we are not able to gather together in-person. Pastor Jody will bless the elements in the sanctuary and you are able to participate in communion from your homes. Plan to prepare in advance a piece of bread and either some grape juice or wine. You are invited to participate in virtual Communion whether you participate in the live stream or end up watching the service at a later time.
In-Person Worship Services Resume

The church's Covid-19 Task Force recommended, and the Session approved, that in-person worship services begin again on Sunday, March 14th. (This Sunday's service, March 7th, will be online only.) Covid-19 protections will continue to be in place:
  • Attendance in the sanctuary will be limited to 50 people.

There will be an in-person Maundy Thursday service with Communion on April 1st at 5:00 p.m. The service will also be live-streamed. There will not be a fellowship meal.

There will two worship services on Easter Sunday, one at 8:30 a.m and one at 10:00 a.m. The 10:00 a.m. service will also be live-streamed. There will not be Communion on Easter Sunday.

Souper Bowl of Caring Success!

The numbers are in, and OBPC tackled hunger in a BIG way! Our youth delivered to the Beach Food Pantry all of the Souper Bowl of Caring donations. Together, our church family donated 424 pounds of food, which will provide 353.3 meals, and $305 which will provide an additional 635.4 meals. That’s 988.7 meals that will be provided right here in our own community. Thank you to everyone who supported this annual mission project!!
Thank You From Cathie Feild

I want to express my gratitude for all of the prayers, cards, and offers of assistance during the difficult time of my husband's passing. I especially want to thank those who covered the office during my absence: Bev Jones, Jean Basnight, Barb Nowland, and Jason Evans. The support of this church community means so much to me.

There will be a Celebration of Life for my husband at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Outer Banks via Zoom on Saturday, March 13th, at 2:00 p.m. Anyone who is interested is welcome to view the service. The information about how to join via Zoom is below. Note that there is a passcode, in order to avoid a waiting room for the service.

2021 Sanctuary Flower Schedule

The calendar for signing up to place flowers in the Sanctuary on Sundays in 2021 is available. Placing flowers in the sanctuary is a great way to honor or memorialize someone, or to recognize a birthday, anniversary, birth or any other special occasion!

Because the number of people attending church is still limited, please call or email Cathie in the office at or 252-441-5897 if you would like to sign up for flowers on a specific Sunday. Thank you!
Assistance from Your Church Family

Two important resources to remember during this time are our Prayer Team and our Assistance Coordinator.
