The OC Foundation board voted in six new directors at its June full board meeting. It marks the largest class of incoming board members in many years. These outstanding leaders join an amazing team of committed change-makers. Please welcome the following new directors:

The OC Foundation recognizes the service of two key members of the board, Robert Cabral and Matt Taylor. Joining the board during the 2011/12 fiscal year, Robert was instrumental in creating significant opportunities to OC and its students. As a former board president and finance committee chair, he leaves behind an incredible legacy of leadership. The board also thanks Matt Taylor, who served on the board for three years, most recently as nominating committee chair.

Record number of donations received!

Donor support of the OC Foundation reached an all-time during the 2022/2023 fiscal year!

"We're beyond thankful for the support received this year," says Pete Parker. "There's a remarkable culture on the Oxnard College campus, which business and community members find worthy of their charitable investments."

The number of new donors to the Foundation increased by 224%, while the total number of donors increased by 146%.

STRATEGIC PLAN

OC Foundation embarks on strategic plan

The Foundation is conducting a strategic planning process to identify strategies that will best advance its mission of supporting Oxnard College and its students. The process allows the board, staff, and stakeholders to outline the Foundation's most important priorities.

Campus and community members are invited to participate in the strategic planning process by completing a survey. The Campus/Community Survey seeks feedback pertaining to the Foundation's programs, resourcefulness, and future direction.

SCHOLARSHIPS

More scholarship records!

Improvements made to the Foundation's scholarship program last August resulted in historic figures. Students responded to changes to the scholarship policy and application by submitting 424 total applications. This marks an astonishing 241.9% increase in completed applications.

The need is evident!

Invaluable changes were made to the scholarship program, yet the need for financial assistance is greater than ever. "We anticipate a 20% increase in the number of students seeking scholarships next year," says Pete Parker, OC Foundation Executive Director. "We encourage anyone looking to make a big difference in a student's life to make a donation to our scholarship fund."

July 2023 Alum of the Month

Jasmine Rosales '22

I completed my Bachelors in Biological Science from UC Santa Barbara.

I am working as a medical scribe for a family clinic, as well as a travel phlebotomist.

My favorite memory of OC was studying in the STEM center with my peers. It helped me create a likeminded work environment that motivated me to continue pursuing my passion.

In 5-10 years I see myself as a family medicine Physician Assistant in Oxnard and working on projects to help bridge the gap of language barriers within the health care system.
