Québec Premier Legault Announces Curfew
Construction Remains Unaffected
Premier Legault announced the imposition of an overnight curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and extended the closure of non-essential businesses for a month in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The construction and manufacturing sectors continue to operate as essential businesses.

The ACQ - Québec Construction Association was successful in lobbying that construction deserves to be exempted from the closure. The combination of a good over-all record of the industry as well as the negative impacts the spring 2020 shutdown had on material supply chains were important factors.

The Québec government has approved a template authorization letter developed by the ACQ for employers to give to their employees to work or travel during the curfew hours.

Gatineau Police force will accept this form if completed and signed by an employer. So if you have workers resident in Québec and either working in Ottawa or in Gatineau that may be working or driving during the curfew time period you should be providing this authorization to them.
