Grading System and Participation

Our School will be closed this Monday, September 5th, in observance of Labor Day.

We hope you and your scholars enjoy a well-deserved break from school! School will continue as scheduled on Tuesday, September 6th.

It has come to our attention that some parents and scholars are using the Meta Quest VR Headsets for personal use. Please note that using the VR Headset for personal use is a violation of OCA's Headset Agreement.

ONLY student credentials will allow access to OCA classrooms in Engage. Furthermore, a scholar with a personal account will be able to join public sessions.

For both your scholar's academic success and safety, we ask that your scholar only uses the login credentials that we have provided.

Please Note: If a headset is used for personal endeavors and requires repairs or assistance from our technology team as a result, there will be a fee assessed for the repair.

Please join us Tuesday 9/6 (6:00-6:30 pm EST) or Wednesday 9/7 (12:00-12:30pm EST) via Microsoft Teams.

Please note that we use a weighted grading system. Therefore, scholars have a participation grade that is worth roughly 20% of their final grade.

For a full participation grade:

• During Microsoft Teams meetings, scholars are expected to have their video cameras on and centered within their screens, unless parents have notified the teacher of special circumstances.
• During Classes in VR, scholars are expected to stay in the session until their teacher dismisses the class. If a technology or connection issue arises, scholars should notify the teacher immediately and then join via the Engage Desktop App.
• During Asynchronous class times, scholars are expected to complete their module assignments.
