The Public Law Center's South East Asian Legal Outreach Program (SEALOP) provides free civil legal assistance at the BPSOS Center for Community Advancement, Inc., 13950 Milton Ave. Suite 301, Westminster, CA 92683.    
Clinics take place on the second Saturday of every month from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

A reminder all 2019 memberships will expire on December 31st.
Current and new members can visit the membership sign-up page to renew or sign up online. The online system allows you to pay by credit card or you can print an invoice to pay by check.
You can also download the application and mail it in. 
IMPORTANT: When renewing your membership with the Orange County Bar Association, please remember that you may designate $10 of your OCBA membership fee to OCAABA.

January 16 - OCBA 2020 Judges' Night & Annual Meeting
The Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) invites you to the 2020 Judges' Night and Annual Meeting featuring the installation of Scott B. Garner, Esq. as 2020 OCBA President, as well as the installation of the OCBA Officers and Directors and the OCBA Charitable Fund Directors. A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Franklin G. West Award, the highest honor bestowed by the OCBA.

January 17 Deadline - Orange County Grand Juror Applications Now Being Accepted  
The Court is accepting applications for a one-year Grand Jury term that begins July 1, 2020. To qualify to serve on the Grand Jury, you must be a resident of Orange County for at least a year, a United States citizen, at least 18 years old, in possession of sound judgment, and have sufficient knowledge of English. Interested citizens must apply by January 17, 2020.

City of Huntington Beach Seeks Senior Deputy City Attorney/Deputy City Attorney III 
The City of Huntington Beach is looking for a Senior Deputy City Attorney/Deputy City Attorney III. The ideal candidate has been practicing law in California for approximately 3-5 years, with some civil trial experience, either in prosecuting or defending lawsuits. The ideal candidate also has VERY STRONG legal research and writing experience, with extensive experience preparing written discovery, dispositive motions, and trial preparation documents and experience in briefing writs and appeals. Having represented other government or public agencies at trial, including personal injury, City versus State law dispute, government and municipal law, and police use of force is a significant plus. Applications are now open for the 2020 MTO Fellows Program. Office of the City Attorney, City of Oakland Seeks Summer Law Clerks 
The Oakland City Attorney's Office will be accepting applications beginning December 1, 2019 from law students for full-time and part-time summer Law Clerk positions.  Applications for clinical semesters and volunteer fall and spring Law Clerks will also be accepted. The summer Law Clerk positions are full-time (37.5 hours per week). However, a part-time schedule may be approved. Due to budget constraints, these positions are available only on a work-study, volunteer or academic credit basis. Fall and spring Law Clerk positions are part-time and may be staffed on a volunteer or academic credit basis. There is not a minimum time commitment for Law Clerks, but reasonable notice of departure is requested.

PLC Pro Bono Case List The Public Law Center (PLC) has an ongoing (as of December 13, 2019) case list for individuals in need of pro bono representation. The PLC staff can answer any questions you may have related to your case to support you in your pro bono representation; locate a mentor to help you; supply you with samples and manuals (some case types excluded); provide translation support in Spanish and Vietnamese; and arrange for office space for you to meet with your client at PLC.
