MARCH 10TH - OCAABA DAY AT PLC'S SEALOP
The Public Law Center's South East Asian Legal Outreach Program (SEALOP) provides free civil legal assistance at the BPSOS Center for Community Advancement, Inc., 13950 Milton Ave. Suite 301, Westminster, CA 92683.    
Clinics take place on the second Saturday of every month from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. 

Volunteer attorneys and Vietnamese-English translators are needed.

A list of cases will be e-mailed the week of the clinic to those interested in volunteering.

March 9th  - OCWLA "Running for Office As A Woman Lawyer"
The Orange County Women Lawyers Association ("OCWLA"), will be holding an MCLE luncheon on Friday, March 9th on the topic of "Running for Office As A Woman Lawyer". There are a record number of women running for public office in 2018, and this includes women lawyers. Join the OCWLA for an engaging luncheon for a chance to learn from city attorney and municipal lawyer Sonia Rubio Carvalho about the business, legal, ethical, and other rules for attorneys running for public office. The presentation will also include a panel of women lawyers who are first-time candidates for public office, including former OCWLA President Ashleigh Aitken (running in Anaheim), Tiffany Ackley (running in Aliso Viejo), and Lauren Johnson-Norris (running in Irvine). The presentation includes a catered lunch.

Ms. JD is hosting their 10th Annual Conference on Women in Law on March 9, 2018 at the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law. The Conference will feature a variety of great speakers and provide time for women in the law to connect.
 
The Ms. JD Honors Reception Keynote speaker will be Lily Y. Hughes, Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer & Corporate Secretary of Public Storage.

The Conference Keynote will feature Michelle Banks, Senior Advisor & Executive Coach, BarkerGilmore LLC; Former Executive Vice President Sustainability, Global General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer, Gap Inc.; Board CoChair and CoFounder, UCLA Law Women LEAD.
 
The conference will also have panelists to speak on a variety of topics relevant to women in law throughout the day.

March 13th  - Cal-APABA Lobby Day
The California Asian Pacific American Bar Association ("Cal-APABA"), a statewide advocacy organization representing the interests of California's APA attorneys, will hold its first annual Lobby Day in Sacramento on March 13th. Cal-APABA will meet with state assemblymembers, senators, and the governor's office to advocate for issues of interest to California's APA attorneys. To participate, register at calapaba.org.
March 14th - PABA 32nd Installation and Awards Gala
The Philippine American Bar Association ("PABA") invites you to join in celebrating their 32nd Installation and Awards Gala on March 14th. This year's Gala will feature keynote speaker California Supreme Court Justice Goodwin Liu, a menu of Filipino flavors, and special performances.

May 7th-8th  - NAPABA Lobby Day in Washington, DC (STIPEND APPLICATIONS DUE MARCH 9TH)
NAPABA Annual Lobby Day will take place on May 7th and 8th and is an opportunity for NAPABA members from across the country to educate members of Congress and Congressional staffers on issues of importance to the Asian Pacific American community. Lobby Day also gives members an active role in promoting NAPABA's mission of advocating for justice, equity, and opportunity for Asian Pacific Americans.

To help expand the voice of the APA legal community, the goal is to meet with more offices than ever before - last year NAPABA had 80 meetings across the House and Senate. The NAPABA Policy Team states they are more likely to get meetings when they are attended by constituents and local leaders, so please share the information about this year's Lobby Day.

To help defray the costs, attendees can apply for a stipend. Deadline to apply for stipends is March 9th.
June 14th - PLC Volunteers for Justice
On Thursday, June 14, 2018, nearly 1,000 leaders from the Orange County legal, business and civic communities will gather for the Public Law Center's annual Volunteers for Justice Dinner. Please join PLC for an inspiring event that also provides an opportunity to support the over 1,400 volunteer attorneys, paralegals and law students who work with us to provide free legal services to low income residents. The Public Law Center (PLC) has an ongoing (as of February 22, 2018) case list for individuals in need of pro bono representation. The PLC staff can answer any questions you may have related to your case to support you in your pro bono representation; locate a mentor to help you; supply you with samples and manuals (some case types excluded); provide translation support in Spanish and Vietnamese; and arrange for office space for you to meet with your client at PLC.
