OCBA Leadership Election - Voting Now Open
The OCBA leadership election is now open for online voting. Terms begin Jan. 1, 2019. All officer terms are for one year; all Board member terms are for three years. The person elected 2019 Secretary will be expected to continue to serve in the following capacities: 2020 Treasurer, 2021 President-Elect, 2022 President.

Voting closes at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018. Only active attorney members are eligible to vote.

September 20 - TMBA Excessive Force and Police Brutality from the Minority Perspective 
Thurgood Marshall Bar Association (TMBA) is hosting a panel presentation entitled "Excessive Force and Police Brutality from the Minority Perspective" at Chapman University Fowler School of Law. The event will be held on September 20th in Kennedy Hall (Room 142) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Each of the panelists have direct and personal experiences dealing with issues of police misconduct and excessive force issues, from litigating cases in Los Angeles and Orange County regarding these concerns, to engaging in community activism to support and improve relationships between the community and law enforcement.

There is no charge for this event, but registration is requested.

The Orange County Superior Court announces the opening of our Superior Court Commissioner position. Candidates must be active members in good standing with the State Bar of California and must have been admitted to practice law in California for at least ten (10) years. Persons seeking appointment as a Superior Court Commissioner must demonstrate relevant legal experience as deemed sufficient by the judges of the Court. Superior Court Commissioners may not engage in the private practice of law. Temporary Judges' Recruitment New Three-year Cycle Opens
The Orange County Superior Court announces a recruitment process for Temporary Judges, covering the next three-year cycle to begin fiscal year 2019-2020. If you are interested in becoming a Temporary Judge, please read the Application Letter and complete the Temporary Judge Application. The Application Letter describes the minimum qualifications and selection criteria, which will be used in this application process. Attorneys who are not currently active in the Orange County Superior Court Temporary Judge Program and who would like to be considered must complete the full application process. Those in the program currently must complete a renewal application.The Court will require those who successfully pass the application process to attend two mandatory three-hour training sessions in late spring/early summer 2019. The Oakland City Attorney's Office seeks a well-qualified, motivated attorney with significant land use experience for a Deputy City Attorney III or Deputy City Attorney IV level in the Office's Advisory Division.
