OCAABA is excited to host its first Continuing Legal Education Travel Seminar to Tokyo, Japan Nov 7-12, 2019.

The price is $2300 (plus $270 tax & additional travel fees) per person based on double occupancy and includes airfare from LAX, transfers to and from Hotel, 4 nights accommodation in standard room and daily breakfast. (CLE fees are separate.)

Signups will be taken until cap is reached. Non-refundable deposit of $500 required with signup. Final payment due by July 1.

The Public Law Center's South East Asian Legal Outreach Program (SEALOP) provides free civil legal assistance at the BPSOS Center for Community Advancement, Inc., 13950 Milton Ave. Suite 301, Westminster, CA 92683.    
Clinics take place on the second Saturday of every month from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

Once a local startup company, CardiAQ successfully sued a former vendor for trade secret misappropriation, while being acquired by Edwards Lifesciences for $400M along the way. May 17 - CWL Southern California Judicial Reception Honoring Hon. Maria Hernandez
Each year, the California Women Lawyers (CWL) presents two awards to outstanding members of the Judiciary. The Rose Bird Memorial Award and Joan Dempsey Klein Distinguished Jurist Award are presented respectively at CWL's Northern and Southern California Judicial receptions. They are named after, and presented to, members of the judiciary who are pioneers and luminaries for women in the legal profession. This year's recipient is the Honorable Maria Hernandez.

On June 3 nearly 1,000 leaders from the Orange County legal, business and civic communities will gather for the Public Law Center's annual Volunteers for Justice Dinner.  Please join PLC for this inspiring event that also provides an opportunity to support the over 1,600 volunteer attorneys, paralegals and law students who work with PLC to provide free legal services to low income residents.

PLC Seeks Directing Attorney - Consumer Law Unit (Full-time)
The Public Law Center (PLC), Orange County's non-profit pro bono law firm, is committed to providing access to justice for low-income residents. The Consumer Law Unit provides assistance in the following areas:  debt collection defense, creditor harassment, bankruptcy, student loans, federal court litigation, predatory lending and home equity scams, identity theft and wage garnishment. The Directing Attorney would be expected to provide assistance in these areas through direct representation to clients, general pro per assistance at clinics, guiding and mentoring lesser experienced staff attorneys and providing technical assistance to our pro bono volunteers.

The PLC staff can answer any questions you may have related to your case to support you in your pro bono representation; locate a mentor to help you; supply you with samples and manuals (some case types excluded); provide translation support in Spanish and Vietnamese; and arrange for office space for you to meet with your client at PLC.
