Backpack Supply Drive for the Homeless
with Backpack Assembly & CLE february 29

OCAABA has partnered with Elder Law & Disability Rights Center, People's Homeless Task Force Orange County, and LawWorks to create and pass out care packages/backpacks for the homeless that will include critically needed items.

You can select specific items from the Target Registry or Amazon Wish List or choose a gift card option which will then be used to purchase needed items. A tax deductible receipt will be provided by People's Homeless Task Force Orange County.

On February 29, there will be a member event at LawWorks to assemble the care packages and provide a CLE presentation about the legal issues surrounding homelessness. (Details TBA)

January 17 Deadline - Orange County Grand Juror Applications Now Being Accepted  
The Court is accepting applications for a one-year Grand Jury term that begins July 1, 2020. To qualify to serve on the Grand Jury, you must be a resident of Orange County for at least a year, a United States citizen, at least 18 years old, in possession of sound judgment, and have sufficient knowledge of English. Interested citizens must apply by January 17, 2020.

January 22 - FLOC/OCKABA "Ethics in ADR"
The Filipino-American Lawyers of Orange County (FLOC) and the Orange County Korean American Bar Association (OCKABA) invite you to a joint CLE event "Ethics in ADR" at JAMS in Irvine on January 22nd. 5:30 PM: Reception (hosted cocktails & appetizers) | 6:00 - 7:00 PM: 1 Hour MCLE.

Cost: Free for OCKABA and FLOC members and $15 for non-members 
 

January 31-February 2 "Claremont McKenna College Regional Tournament"
The American Mock Trial Association Regional Tournament will take place Jan 31st to Feb 2nd at Claremont McKenna College. Trials last an average of three hours and meals and refreshments will be provided prior to all the rounds. The following rounds are available for judging or scoring:

Round 1: Friday 5:30pm-9:00pm
Round 2: Saturday 9:30am - 1:00pm
Round 3: Saturday 2:30pm - 6:00pm
Round 4: Sunday 9:00am - 12:30pm

February 4-March 25 "2019-2020 UC Irvine School of Law Moot Court Competition"
The Executive Board of the 2019-2020 UC Irvine School of Law Moot Court Competition invites you to serve as an oral argument judge for this year's competition. As a growing law school, they count on the local legal community to train and encourage our next generation of lawyers. This year, there are 100 student competitors, which is the largest group in UCI Law Moot Court history and almost double the number of competitors of last year's competition. The students are eager to expand their legal skill set - and answer tough questions from the judges. They are asking for your expertise to give these stude nts a truly challenging and constructive competition experience.

Preliminary Round I:  February 4, 6, 11, 13, and 15   
Preliminary Round II:  February 18, 20, 22, 25,  and 27
Top 16 Elimination Round:  March 17 and 19
Quarterfinal Round:  March 23 and 25
