REFLECTING ON RACE, LAW AND WHITE SUPREMACY : ASIAN-AMERICAN & MUSLIM-AMERICAN EXPERIENCES
Join VABASC, OCAABA and multiple other organizations for a conversation on the relationship between race and the law, with a particular focus on the past experiences of Asian-American communities and the present challenges facing Muslim-Americans.  Prof. Neil Gotanda's groundbreaking scholarship in the area of Asian American Jurisprudence and his current work on the racialization of Muslim-Americans will foreground this discussion featuring:

Nominations are being accepted for the OCBA 2017 Franklin G. West Award. The highest honor bestowed by the OCBA, this annual recognition, which was established in memory of Judge Franklin G. West, is considered the OCBA's lifetime achievement award. Judge West epitomized the best of the legal profession, both as an attorney and a judge. The Award, which annually recognizes an outstanding attorney or judge whose lifetime achievements have advanced justice and the law, will be presented at the 2018 OCBA Judges' Night & Annual Meeting.

UCLA Pre-Law Society invites you to join them on November 6th for their Annual Law Forum. The group will be hosting over 70 law schools, including Columbia, Southwestern, ASU, Berkeley, UCI, UCLA, Northwestern and LSU. Various LSAT prep companies will also be in attendance.

Attending the Law Forum will give you the opportunity to meet and network with many law school representatives. November 9th - OCKABA 12th Annual Installation Dinner
The Orange County Korean American Bar Association (OCKABA), a local network of approximately 400 local attorneys, will be holding its 12th annual installation dinner from 6 pm - 9 pm on Thursday, November 9th at Hotel Irvine. This year's honorees are Judge Susan Jung-Townsend and Sylvia Kim, the Orange County regional director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice. OCKABA will present Community Partnership Awards to the Council of Korean Americans and the International Association of Korean Lawyers.

The Orange County Women Lawyers Association ("OCWLA") will host a lunch presentation on "The Basics of Presenting Evidence" with the Hon. Terri K. Flynn-Peister on November 10th from 11:45 AM - 1:30 PM at Andrei's Conscious Cuisine, 2607 Main Street, Irvine.  Judge Flynn-Peister will cover general concepts regarding evidence and the basics of presenting evidence in court for organized and efficient trials and hearings. Chapman University seeks applications for a Part-Time Lecturer of Estate Planning for the Spring 2018 semester. This two-unit course covers both small and large estates, with consideration of lifetime and testamentary dispositions of property, the use of the marital and charitable bequests, and the use of life insurance.
