The Public Law Center's South East Asian Legal Outreach Program (SEALOP) provides free civil legal assistance at the BPSOS Center for Community Advancement, Inc., 13950 Milton Ave. Suite 301, Westminster, CA 92683.    
Clinics take place on the second Saturday of every month from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. 

Volunteer attorneys and Vietnamese-English translators are needed.

A list of cases will be e-mailed the week of the clinic to those interested in volunteering.

February 22nd - U Visa and VAWA Immigration Training - Beginner/ Intermediate Level  
The Public Law Center ("PLC") and Chapman Law School will present a 3 hour CLE training on effectively representing immigrant victims of crime in U Nonimmigrant Visa applications and VAWA petitions. This training will be useful to practitioners and pro bono attorneys with beginning to intermediate-level experience with U Visa and VAWA cases, as well as pro bono attorneys who are interested in taking their first case. February 22nd from 5:30-8:30 pm at Chapman Law School. Cost is free for practitioners with commitment to help in at least 1 PLC pro bono case within the next year.

February 23rd  - IMPACT LA: Volunteers Needed to Assist Domestic Violence Survivors with Immigration Issues (NO PRIOR IMMIGRATION EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)
IMPACT LA supports survivors of domestic violence in Southern California by providing wrap-around legal services in a clinic setting. At this clinic, we will be partnering with WTLC, the oldest domestic violence program in Orange County, and assisting with immigration issues. While domestic violence affects all sectors of the population, immigration status can place an additional barrier to escaping abuse. Concurrently, there are specific forms of relief that are available to survivors of domestic violence. No prior immigration experience is required. Volunteers will receive training and be supported with day-of supervision from experienced immigration attorneys. Up to 8 volunteers needed. All languages welcome, with an urgent need for Vietnamese speakers.
Date/time: Friday, February 23, 2018; 9:30am-2:30pm. Location: Fullerton (address to be provided)

The California Asian Pacific American Bar Association ("Cal-APABA"), a statewide advocacy organization representing the interests of California's APA attorneys, will hold its first annual Lobby Day in Sacramento on March 13th.
