The Public Law Center's South East Asian Legal Outreach Program (SEALOP) provides free civil legal assistance at the BPSOS Center for Community Advancement, Inc., 13950 Milton Ave. Suite 301, Westminster, CA 92683.    
Clinics take place on the second Saturday of every month from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. 

Volunteer attorneys and Vietnamese-English translators are needed.

A list of cases will be e-mailed the week of the clinic to those interested in volunteering.

July 31 Deadline - 2018 NAPABA Leadership Advancement Program
The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) has announced its inaugural Leadership Advancement Program. This is a year-long program to develop mid-career Asian Pacific American attorneys' leadership skills, while providing an opportunity to foster genuine relationships with peers within the profession, especially between in-house counsel (IHC) and law firm attorneys. This year, the program will be held in San Francisco, in partnership with the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area (AABA Bay Area). The program will commence with a weekend of teambuilding and leadership training in San Francisco, from Friday, Sept. 21, through midday Sunday, Sept. 23. The first day will consist of leadership assessments and team building. The second day will be led by Ascend, the largest, non-profit Pan-Asian membership organization for business professionals in North America, which will include training on how to obtain senior leadership positions in corporations and law firms and how to transcend the unique hurdles facing Asian Pacific Americans. The last half-day is devoted to launching team-based community projects that will allow participants to forge meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships. Applications will be accepted through July 31. 
August 3 Deadline - OCBA Call for Nominations: 2018 Harmon G. Scoville Award
Nominations are currently being accepted by the Orange County Bar Association for the 2018 Harmon G. Scoville Award. This prestigious award was established in 1990, in honor of the retiring Appellate Court Presiding Justice Harmon G. Scoville.
The nominee must be a member of the Orange County legal community whose career exemplifies the highest standards of the legal profession and who has significantly contributed to the Orange County Bar Association and championed our constitutional system of justice.

August 3-4 - NCVAA 12th Annual Conference
The 12th Annual National Conference of Vietnamese American Attorneys (NCVAA) is co-hosted this year with the Vietnamese American Bar Association of Georgia August 3rd and 4th in Atlanta, Georgia.

August 15 - OCWLA Women Judges Reception
Join Orange County Women Lawyers Association (OCWLA) for an event celebrating and encouraging the advancement of women on the bench on Wednesday, August 15th at Chapter One Local, 227 N Broadway, Santa Ana from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM. Hosted appetizers, wine & beer will be served. 
August 16 & 17 - 2018 NAPABA Western Regional Conference 
The Asian American Bar Association of Las Vegas is hosting this year's NAPABA Western Regional Conference at the Park MGM in Las Vegas. There will be an evening reception on August 16, followed by a full day of CLE sessions on August 17.

Accommodations: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Park MGM from Aug. 16-19. Room rates will range from $114 to $214 a night for a standard room. The cut-off date for reservations within this block is July 24. The special room rates will be available until July 24 or until the group has sold out, whichever comes first.

September 16 - OCHBA Annual Judge's BBQ
The OC Hispanic Bar Association's (OCHBA) will hold its Annual Judge's BBQ on Sunday, September 16th from 2-5 pm at a private residence in Orange County. Registration requested by September 10th.

October 7-12 - IBA Annual Conference Rome 2018
The 2018 International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference will be held in Rome, the Eternal City. Founded nearly 3,000 years ago, the city is renowned for its ancient ruins, classical architecture, renaissance palazzos and baroque fountains. Rome is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city and will provide an elegant backdrop for the IBA Annual Conference.

As the saying goes 'all roads lead to Rome' and the conference will bring together delegates from all over the world for the largest and most prestigious event for international lawyers, providing an abundance of business and networking opportunities, not to mention the chance to explore one of the most fascinating cities on Earth. Early registration ends July 20th.
