SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON SHARES TIPS ON HOW TO STAY CONNECTED ONLINE DURING POWER OUTAGES:*
  • Southern California Edison advises families to use cell phones for WIFI access, have a portable power station, and sign up for outage alerts. Students are recommended to contact libraries and school districts to use available hot spots and download learning applications such as Zoom and Google Classroom to mobile devices. 

ORANGE COUNTY TO REMOVE DISCRIMINATORY CLAUSES FROM PROPERTY DEEDS:*
  • The county Clerk-Recorder’s Office will provide cost-free updates to all property deeds and documents that require the removal of discrimination clauses and restrictions based on religion and ethnicity.

TURNING RED TAPE INTO RED CARPET SPOTLIGHT:
ORANGE COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICT’S VIRTUAL TOUR:*
  • OCSD closed its physical doors to the public, but with thousands of people visiting OCSD for tours annually, OCSD staff developed an alternative to continue educational efforts. OCSD developed a guided and a self-guided virtual tour providing a behind the scenes look at OCSD daily operations. The tour was created in-house by staff from the Public Affairs Office and Information Technology using a GIS platform. Tours remain free and educational, and the virtual format has increased tour capacity. OCSD staff thought creatively and innovatively to identify how to best showcase the ways they protect the public and the environment online.

OCTA ASKING FOR COMMUNITY FEEDBACK ON SOUTH COUNTY TRANSPORTATION STUDY:*
  • The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is conducting a transportation study that will consider transportation needs of residents, commuters, and visitors in south Orange County. The study will identify improvements for streets, bus and rail transit, highways and bikeways through 2045.   • OCTax hosted the virtual event, Save California that featured special guest, Wing Lam, Owner and Founder of Wahoo’s Fish Tacos for a conversation on the economic downfall small businesses will face if the Proposition 15 initiative passes—every aspect of average folks’ lives will be more expensive. FIGHT FOR 501C6 FUNDING CONTINUES:
  • OCBC joins over 2,300 organizations in continuing to urge Congress to pass COVID relief funding that includes 501(c)6’s in the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Local chambers and industry associations are working harder than ever with less resources to support their business members through the pandemic and strategically plan for economic recovery.
