WHAT IS 5G - WHAT WILL IT DO FOR OC - AND WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:*

OC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS COULD REOPEN FOR CLASSROOM LEARNING:*
  • OC elementary schools could reopen for classroom teaching if parents, teachers and community groups sign off on the plans, along with interim OC health officer Dr. Clayton Chau. Current recommendations call for no reopenings for elementary schools in counties that have exceeded 200 positive cases per 100,000 people. OC’s case rate now sits at 115 per 100,000 people.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION PARTNERS WITH APPLE AND T-MOBILE TO CONNECT STUDENTS:*
  • One million Californian students will receive computing devices and IPads equipped with high-speed connectivity for the fall. In addition, California teachers will receive complimentary Apple Teacher Learning Center access. The State’s partnership with Apple and T-Mobile will provide teachers and students resources needed to create a seamless virtual learning experience.

KNOTT'S SCARY FARM 2020 CANCELED DUE TO COVID-19:*

ADVOCACY UPDATES:
LIABILITY PROTECTIONS, 501(C)6 RELIEF TOP PRIORITIES FOR COVID RELIEF BILL:
  • The House, Senate and President are negotiating “phase four” of coronavirus relief bill negotiations. Two of OCBC’s highest priorities are ensuring businesses have a coronavirus liability shield as they reopen and extending federal relief to 501(c)6 nonprofits. The Senate bill proposes to protect businesses, except those that have shown “gross negligence”, from liability if they prove they have made “reasonable efforts” to comply with government guidelines. The House and Senate relief bills would allow many 501(c)6 organizations to be eligible for a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan, but liability protection is missing from the House bill. Help us and contact your House Representative and Senators HERE to let them know how imperative these policies are.
