TURNING RED TAPE INTO RED CARPET SPOTLIGHT
ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY’S COVID-19 RESPONSE:*
  • In early March, OCTA successfully transitioned more than 500 employees to remote work. This seamless transition was possible due to strong investments in technology over the past five years and collaboration between many of the agency’s divisions. OCTA’s remote workforce made several operational changes to transit service levels to ensure the safety of passengers and employees, including adjusting service levels to match demand, implementing rear-door boarding and providing hand sanitizer onboard. Ridership has declined, but OC Bus recorded roughly 33,000 daily boardings in April and had 64,000 daily weekday boardings in early September. Additionally, the remote work program has accelerated critical infrastructure projects like the I-405 improvement project.
