  • How well did your state representatives support pro-business legislation this year? See their scores in OCBC’s 2021 Legislative Scorecard! The Scorecard grades OC’s five State Senators and seven Assemblymembers on how their votes aligned with OCBC’s position on 16 important bills. Congratulations to State Senator Tom Umberg and Assemblymember Steven Choi for receiving the highest scores in their respective chambers! TURNING RED TAPE INTO RED CARPET WINNER'S SPOTLIGHT:
CITY OF ANAHEIM’S COMMUNITY CARES RESPONSE TEAM AND OC CONSERVATION CORPS PARTNERSHIP:
  • Congratulations to City of Anaheim for winning the Leadership Award for both its Community Care Response Team (CCRT) and its partnership with Orange County Conservation Corps (OCCC)! Anaheim expanded homeless outreach efforts by creating CCRT, which averages four daily street exits, has helped 726 individuals enter shelter and connected 32 people with permanent homes. OCCC and Anaheim provided critical assistance during the pandemic, dedicating over 180,000 hours aiding residents, distributing over 25M pounds of food and completing 6,000 COVID tests daily.

SANTA ANA UTILIZES OPPORTUNITY ZONE FOR HOUSING:
  • Downtown Santa Ana is undergoing construction for a 218-unit multifamily residential project. It is a joint venture project between two companies taking advantage of the City's Opportunity Zone, which allows investors potential tax benefits to invest into Qualified Opportunity Zones and helps spur economic growth.   • Orange County Sanitation District’s (OC San) 2021 Strategic Plan includes 15 policy areas that establish their priorities over the next two years. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format.
OCBC will be hosting the Orange County Workforce Development Board to discuss the no cost services they can provide to the business community, including recruitment services, workplace compliance and workforce training funds. The Workforce Board has the authority to reimburse up to 75% of an employee’s wages while they are receiving On-the-Job Training. These services are available to for-profit businesses, private non-profit organizations, and public sector employers.
