HOT OFF THE PRESS
CSU COVID-19 VACCINE UPDATES:
  • CSU Office of the Chancellor recently  announced that all CSU faculty, staff, and students must either be fully immunized or receive an approved exemption before returning to any campus facility at any university location. For CSUF, the policy is effective immediately, and all Titans returning to campus must have at least received their first vaccination dose by Aug. 17, 2021, which is the beginning of the 2021-22 academic year. Learn more

VACCINE MYTHS DEBUNKED:
  • Check out this video from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to learn the truth behind the most common vaccine misconceptions. Stay safe and schedule a vaccine

MOVEMENT ON FEDERAL INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING:
  • Yesterday, the Senate voted 67-32 to move a bipartisan infrastructure bill forward, though a final vote will be needed to push the bill out of the Senate. The Biden White House released this factsheet on the deal, which currently includes $550 billion in new federal investment in roads, bridges, transit, rail, energy, water, broadband and more. Details are still materializing, but new spending would be paid for using unallocated COVID-19 relief funds, some corporate user fees, and revenue from economic growth, among other mechanisms. U.S. Chamber of Commerce released a statement of support for the bill.

ORANGE COUNTY EQUITY MAP:
  • Check out OC Equity Map, a data platform that spotlights local social and health disparities across multiple dimensions with a specific focus on the impact from COVID-19. This interactive map visualizes OC into 580 census tracts and displays the scores from the Social Progress Index (SPI), CDC Health Indicators, and population demographic data.

ADVOCACY
OCBC CONTINUES ADVOCACY ON MAJOR BILLS IN LEGISLATURE:
  • While there have been numerous legislative victories for OC’s business community, many bills are still moving in Sacramento. Bills OCBC supports include AB 537 and SB 556, two bills expanding reliable high-speed internet access, and SB 9 and SB 10, which help address CA's housing supply crisis. OCBC strongly opposes AB 701, which would cause increased litigation risks for warehouses, and AB 1041, which burdens employers by broadly and unnecessarily expanding employee leave. Click here to learn more about OCBC’s priority bills.
