FAQS ON WORKPLACE COVID-19 STANDARDS:  
  • Even after June 15, CA businesses are operating under a cloud of confusion with Cal/OSHA’s revised workplace safety standards. Cal/OSHA Board votes today on updated protocols for masking, physical distancing, vaccine verification, and other employer requirements. Here are frequently asked questions to help businesses comply. OCBC is fighting to remove burdensome components such as wasteful N95 stockpiling, excessive records maintenance, and unclear self-attestation and testing standards that subject businesses to unfair liabilities.  

CSUF RECEIVES $40M GIFT: 
  • On June 15, philanthropist Mackenzie Scott and her husband Dan Jewett announced the largest unrestricted gift in the university's history. CSUF's support of marginalized groups achieving higher education made it stand out for such a transformative investment. Read more.

WORKFORCE HOUSING COMMITTEE TALKS VMT, HOUSING ELEMENTS:
  • OCBC’s Workforce Housing Committee hosted Jennifer Hernandez, Partner with Holland & Knight and expert on CA housing policy, for a discussion on how new regulations are making development more expensive while planning focused on reducing vehicle miles traveled exacerbates racial disparities in homeownership. Hernandez is working with The Two Hundred on closing the racial wealth gap through homeownership. OC cities also informed OCBC members of the progress of their housing element updates.

  • OCHCA’s mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinics bring the vaccine to you! To find a location, click here or call the OC COVID-19 Hotline during their new hours Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proof of residency/employment are no longer required, and everyone aged 12 and up without a medical exemption is encouraged to get vaccinated.

WORLD’S LARGEST FIREFIGHTING HELICOPTERS JOIN OC TO COMBAT WILDFIRES: 
  • OCBC Member, Boeing’s pair of Chinook CH-47s helitankers can carry up to 3,000 gallons of fire retardant and have joined the disaster response team to battle SoCal’s wildfires. Southern California Edison, another OCBC member, provided the $18M funds for the game-changing helicopters. Read more.
