  • On Oct. 7 OC Taxpayers Association honored OCBC's President and CEO, Lucy Dunn, with the annual Royalty Award at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. The award recognizes Dunn and OCBC for effective protection of taxpayer funds, including the SafeDineOC program, which helped some of the hardest hit restaurants during the pandemic, as well as ensuring billions of tax dollars are returned to OC for water and transportation projects, including supporting the renewal of Measure M. OCBC HELPS KEEP SCAG’S GREENPRINT ON PAUSE, DELIVERS WIN FOR HOUSING:
  • Last week, the Southern California Association of Government (SCAG) Regional Council voted 43-15 to keep the SoCal Greenprint, a mapping tool that contains problematic datasets which could be used to limit future housing development, on pause so it can be revised and improved. OCBC partnered with BizFed and other business leaders, and the unified voice of industry prevailed: a white paper on the Greenprint will be developed and an advisory task force will be formed to help ensure the Greenprint no longer jeopardizes housing construction.   • Anaheim Public Utilities’ (APU) Small Business Emergency Assistance Program (BEAP) is nominated for the Business Retention and Expansion Award! BEAP assists businesses and nonprofits experiencing hardship during the pandemic by offering a $1,000 one-time credit toward their electric utility bill. APU approved 390 applications after an extensive outreach campaign that included door-to-door canvassing.*

OSO PARKWAY BRIDGE NAMED PROJECT OF THE YEAR: 
  • The Los Angeles Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE-LA) has named the recently completed Oso Parkway Bridge its 2021 Roadway and Highway Project of the Year. The nearly $40M project opened on Jan. 13 and was the three-year product of a partnership between the Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA), County of Orange and Caltrans. The bridge provides a direct connection between the 241 Toll Road and Los Patrones Parkway. Learn more

MEMORIALCARE CENTERS RECEIVE HIGH HONORS:
  • MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center and MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center once again took the top two spots in the Best Hospital category and MemorialCare Medical Group placed in the top three for Best Medical Group category in The Orange County Register's Best of Orange County competition.
