OCBC ADVOCACY PAYS OFF IN SACRAMENTO:
  • Gov. Newsom signed 92% of bills sent to his desk this year for a total of 770 new laws. OCBC directly advocated on 45 bills; 26 were vetoed or designated as “two-year bills” after stalling in the Legislature, while the Governor signed eight supported billsa 76% success rate! CalChamber identified 25 job killers this year; just two made it to the Governor’s desk, and only one was signed. CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH’S ONE-YEAR BIZ LICENSE TAX WAIVER:
  • City of Newport Beach’s One-Year Waiver of Business License Tax Renewal is nominated for the Business Retention and Expansion Award! From April 2021 to March 2022, the City of Newport Beach is waiving the business license tax and state fee for businesses required to close during the pandemic. Approximately 1,850 Newport Beach businesses are eligible for the waiver program. The average tax paid across these businesses is $294 a year.*

CITY OF IRVINE’S GREEN BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP:
  • City of Irvine’s Green Business Partnership is nominated for the Sustainable and Green Development Award! The Partnership offers technical assistance and economic incentives to help business owners improve their bottom line while protecting the environment. Since its launch in Oct. 2019, 26 businesses have become certified, saving 1.1 million gallons of water among other environmental benefits.*
