Greetings,
Closing out our 2022-2023 fiscal year, it is imperative to recognize the outstanding success of our customers and the trust of our clients in helping them host industry-leading meetings and events. In the fourth quarter, from July to September, the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) welcomed more than 408,500 attendees to 46 events, generating an estimated $626.7 million in economic impact for the Central Florida region. As we continue to deliver exceptional service to our clients and attendees, we reflect on the resilience and determination that have carried us through 40 Years of Transformational Experiences.
Without the unwavering trust and support of our clients and partners over the last four decades, the Center would not be the trailblazing force that it is today. From innovative technological advances to community-focused sustainability, the OCCC has made an everlasting impact on the Central Florida region. Recently listed by the Wall Street Journal as one of the Best Convention Centers in the U.S., we recognize the contributions of every diligent staff member, devoted partner, dedicated client and supportive attendee.
During the fourth quarter of this fiscal year, we commemorated our anniversary by hosting a celebration amongst clients, staff, colleagues and friends. I extend my sincerest gratitude to everyone who was in attendance and to every partner and staff member that has supported us over the last 40 years of success in the industry.
As we travel into the first quarter of our 2023-2024 fiscal year, it is with great joy that I announce that the Center has advanced its plans to embark upon an exciting project. On Oct. 3, 2023, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners voted to approve allocating Tourist Development Tax (TDT) funding for our $560 million Phase 5A completion of the OCCC’s North-South Building.
Ultimately, these enhancements will feature an enclosed, air-conditioned connection between the North and South Concourses that includes 60,000 square feet of meeting space, an 80,000-square-foot ballroom and a grand entrance to the North-South Building along Convention Way. We are thrilled to share this joyous news with you and anticipate a bright future as The Center of Hospitality continues to showcase all that is Unbelievably Real about this destination.
Sincerely,
|
