Liberation Movement in the United States. June 2020 marked the 50th anniversary of Pride. In preparing this media starter, we consulted our
LGBTQIAP+
colleagues/friends to better celebrate, share, and amplify lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and pansexual individuals’ experiences, voices, contributions, talents, and (his/her/their) stories, which are far more diverse and deep than the fun, fierce, entertainment traditional pop culture may suggest. In addition to bar associations, advocacy groups, and rights organizations, we have included key Supreme Court cases in the LGBTQIAP+ community’s ongoing fight for equality. Society has come a long way towards acceptance and changing attitudes, but the support of allies and advocates is still critical so that youth and adults alike can openly live their best, authentic lives.
As always, we welcome your input.
Please let us know what you have enjoyed, or what has opened or changed your worldview, and what should be included in the next media starter.
Stay safe and be well.
