Open Position: Certification Bureau Manager 

The Berks County Intermediate Unit is accepting applications for a Certification Bureau Manager. This full-time position is within the Bureau of Certification Services (BCS) under the direction of the Department of Human Services and the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL). The purpose of this position is to serve as a high-level support to the Bureau Director by assisting with operational oversight, program development, and to serve as a liaison to OCDEL’s five regional offices. Open Position: Professional Development Organization (PDO) Grants Supervisor

The Berks County Intermediate Unit is accepting applications for a Professional Development Organization (PDO) Grants Supervisor – The Pennsylvania Key. This full-time position will provide supervision of Pennsylvania’s Professional Development Organizations (PDOs) as well as to facilitate collaborative efforts supporting the goals of the PDOs and Office of Child Development and Early Learning’s (OCDEL) vision for workforce development as administered by OCDEL and the Pennsylvania Key. Office of Child Care (OCC) Compliance Announcements Health and Safety FAQs

On March 29, 2022, the Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL), Bureau of Early Learning Policy and Professional Development and Bureau of Certification released the Health & Safety FAQs. The FAQ document provides detail relating to professional development, compliance with new certification requirements, cost of trainings, and more. See the FAQs for more information.
Announcement C-21-09 Reinstating and Extensions of Child Care Certification Regulation Suspensions Due to Act 73 and Act 14

The Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) Bureaus of Early Learning Policy and Professional Development, and Bureau of Certification have released the Announcement C-21-09 Updated March 31, 2022 Reinstating and Extensions of Child Care Certification Regulation Suspensions Due to Act 73 and Act 14. The Announcement informs certified child care providers of the reinstatement of certain child care regulations, and extension of some child care regulatory suspensions that were extended pursuant to Act 73 of 2021 and Act 14 of 2022. This Announcement explains what regulations will remain suspended, and what regulations will be reinstated effective January 6, 2022 or July 1, 2022. Updated language is highlighted in red within the Announcement.
