Join the Oklahoma City Foundation for Architecture for Explore Edgemere Park, a special walking tour celebrating 100 years of Edgemere Park and the unique architecture, landscape and history that have made it one of Oklahoma City's most desirable neighborhoods.
Located in Oklahoma City's near northwest quadrant, Edgemere Park is more than a neighborhood; it is a community shaped around its namesake park, which serves as its physical center and heart of the neighborhood. With the exception of the boundary streets, roads throughout the neighborhood lead toward the park, following the natural contours of the land and creating a distinctive sense of place.
Established in 1926, Edgemere Park is bounded by NW 36th Street to the north, NW 30th Street to the south, Robinson Avenue to the east and Walker Avenue to the west. Today, the neighborhood is recognized as a Historic Preservation District, with most of its residences constructed during the 1920s and 1930s.
On this guided tour, led by Michael Hoffner, AIA, we'll explore the neighborhood's remarkable collection of residential architecture and discover the stories behind the homes, streets and landscape that give Edgemere its distinctive character. While Tudor Revival architecture dominates the neighborhood, you’ll also find examples of Colonial Revival, Spanish Eclectic, Art Moderne and other architectural styles.
Come take a stroll through one of Oklahoma City's most beautiful historic neighborhoods and celebrate a century of thoughtful design, enduring architecture and community.
