MARCH 2023

OFFICE OF CAMPAIGN AND POLITICAL FINANCE

All 351 cities and towns in the state now have municipal disclosure pages at www.ocpf.us.

The pages list every elected official with ties to the community if they file with OCPF, such as senators, state representatives and county elected officials.

If a city or town posts PDFs of campaign finance reports to their municipal website, we link that page to www.ocpf.us.

To find a page: 1. Go to www.ocpf.us. 2. Scroll to the bottom of the homepage. 3. Click your city or town from the map.

For a direct link, click here.

When we hold training classes for your local filers, we let them know about the most common errors made on the M102 campaign finance report.

These are the most common errors:

  1. Incorrect reporting period dates.
  2. Negative ending balances, usually due to not reporting candidate "out-of-pocket" expenditures correctly.
  3. Lack of sufficient "purpose" information for expenditures.

CAMPAIGN FINANCE TRAINING CLASSES ARE SCHEDULED FOR CANDIDATES WHO FILE LOCALLY:

MARCH 20 AND APRIL 11, BOTH AT NOON.

PLEASE SHARE THIS LINK WITH YOUR CANDIDATES AND THEIR CAMPAIGN TEAMS SO THEY CAN ATTEND.

The training focuses on how to raise and spend money legally, and how to file the M102 campaign finance report with your office.

After a candidate or committee files the M102 campaign finance report with your office, the report may need to be amended due to errors and omissions.

Any campaign finance report with more than $1,000 in activity must be posted to your municipal website.

OCPF strongly recommends posting PDFs of all campaign finance reports, for convenient public viewing. Please click here for our memo concerning the statutory requirements.
