May 5, 2023

Teacher Appreciation Week is next week, Monday, May 8Friday, May 12. This year’s theme is “Teaching is a Work of Heart,” so be sure to give your teachers some heartfelt thanks for all they do! OCSA is incredibly grateful for our outstanding teachers and their dedication to the school and our students. Let’s show our appreciation for them all week!

Tickets go on sale today, Friday, May 5, for GLOCSA, OCSA’s first semi-formal evening dance for middle school students! The dance will be held on Friday, May 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. in The Callero Family Foundation Plaza (DMS Quad). This event is exclusively for current OCSA middle school students. Tickets are available now on MySchoolBucks for $30 each. Sales will close on Monday, May 15. We look forward to this dazzling new event!

Don’t forget! Prom tickets are on sale now for juniors and seniors. Dance the night away at the Carnaval de OCSA at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach on Saturday, May 20 from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on MySchoolBucks. Ticket sales will close Monday, May 15. Please click here for more prom details.

Interested in bringing a non-OCSA guest or an OCSA freshman or sophomore to Prom? Please refer to the following information regarding guest passes. Guest passes are due next week, Wednesday, May 10 to Room T110. Guest passes require signatures from your guest's parent/guardian, their school, and your parent/guardian. If your intended guest is home schooled, over 18, or an OCSA student in grades 9-10, the guest pass must be signed by OCSA Administration. You must also submit a copy of your guest's ID and the business card of the administrator who signed your pass. Guest passes do take time to complete, so we would recommend sending the form to your guest as soon as possible. Per the student handbook, each student is permitted one guest ticket, and you may not ask other OCSA students to purchase additional guest tickets for you. Please remember that you are responsible for the behavior of your guest. Paper copies of the guest pass will be available on the Student Services Rack. No electronic submissions of guest pass materials will be accepted. Please email if you have any questions!

Attention all returning parents/guardians of students in grades 7-11: It is time to register for OCSA’s Annual Parent Meetings for the 2023-2024 school year! Please click here to RSVP at your earliest convenience for one of these mandatory meetings held in person on the OCSA campus on Wednesday, May 24, Thursday, June 1, Monday, June 5, and Tuesday, June 6 at 5:30 and 7 p.m., depending on your child’s conservatory. Please remember that at least one parent/guardian from each family is required to attend this meeting once per school year as a part of the annual enrollment process.

At this meeting, school leadership and conservatory directors will provide an overview of schoolwide and conservatory-specific goals for 2023-2024, as well as share about the importance of supporting your child’s arts conservatory experience at OCSA. This year's meetings will also feature a brand-new participation challenge that could result in additional funds for your child's conservatory.
