The October birthstone’s dramatic play-of-color has inspired writers to compare it to fireworks, galaxies and volcanoes. Bedouins once believed opal held lightning and fell from the sky during thunderstorms. Ancient Greeks thought opals bestowed the gift of prophesy and protection from disease. ADDED HALO TO SAPPHIRE RING |
|
Wishing to add more sparkle to her classic sapphire 3 stone ring, a halo setting was determined to be the best solution, with fine white diamonds added around the sapphire, to frame the gem and bring focus to it's fine blue color. The new setting also was produced in such a way so that the client's newly purchased sapphire & diamond eternity band would sit "flush" and closer together with the halo ring, without a gapping space between the two rings. All requirements were successfully achieved during the redesign of this beautiful ring! |

After ordering a pair of sapphire & diamond drop earrings from a mail order catalogue, which misrepresented the color and quality of the sapphires, this client was extremely disappointed in the almost "black" color of the sapphire, once received and even more upset when the company refused to take back the earrings! Several of the diamonds in the earrings were also low color and chipped. The client turned to Diamonds On The Key for advice and a solution. Replacing the sizable dark, commercial grade quality sapphires with a pair of finely matched, bright blue color sapphires would have cost 4X more than the price originally paid for the earrings. Therefore, a wide assortment of semi precious gemstones were reviewed in a variety of colors, with the client ultimately deciding upon a matched pair of vivid lime green peridot gemstones. The old sapphires were removed with the new gems set in place using finer size prongs. All poor quality diamonds were replaced as well, resulting in a bright & beautiful new pair of earring that thrilled this client! |

Wanting to update a beloved heart pendant, which had an old fashioned "rabbit ear" style bail, from which to suspend it from a chain, this client also complained about the pendant constantly "flipping over" and the clasp of the chain always "sliding" down to the front. Solution? The rabbit ears were removed and a new sturdy 14 karat cable chain supplied, which was permanently soldered directly into the "lobes" of the heart, so that it would sit properly on the neck and eliminate flipping or sliding. The pendant itself also received steam cleaning and polishing. Problems solved and pendant updated! |

Wishing to recycle purple amethyst gemstones from sentimental earrings that she no longer wore, this client discussed a makeover by phone and email, about what type of design these different size and shape gemstones could yield? The client expressed a love of butterflies and emailed photos found on the internet, of pendants that appealed to her. A CADD computerized design was created for the client's approval and an insured FEDEX label was emailed, so that she could mail the old earrings to Diamonds On The Key. White gold was selected to offset the purple color and all 4 gems were reset into the "wings" of the butterfly with small diamonds added for extra sparkle. Something old "morphed" into new! |
