Hello Dear Reader:
It's the start of the fourth and final quarter of the year and once again I ask myself, how did it go by so fast? Time flies, yet finishing a renovation project takes forever. I have dedicated this year to getting Chile Lindo Kitchen Culture off the ground, and I'm happy to say that it's 90% there. The new space displays Chile Lindo's history through press and photos, exhibits Chilean and local artists, gifts by customers with ties to Chile, and my personal collection of Chilean artesanía. And there's a piano!
As usual, I'm wearing many hats and trying to meet deadlines, so I'll just get to the point and publicize these month's events. But before I move on, I want to thank the owners of St. Stephen Vineyards — a "high quality, artisanally made wine from organic grapes from the Colchagua Valley" — for stopping by Chile Lindo Kitchen Culture and subsequently buying a Facebook and Instagram ad for Chile Lindo through their brand and marketing campaign. This ad has already over 1K views. ¡Muchas gracias a toda la familia!
I hope to see you soon and remember that this network serves to bridge many cultures: creatives, producers, small businesses, press, entrepreneurs and artists. Please stay connected and share these events with friends and loved ones. Hope to see you soon.
Saludos,
Paula Tejeda

"Visionary Chilean artist José Basso, invites us to immerse ourselves in his enchanting painted landscapes. His artwork embodies a serene symphony of radiant colors and celestial light, drawing us into the heart of the natural world's awe-inspiring grandeur. Basso's artistic brilliance lies in his ability to distill the intricacies of nature into its purest form, capturing the essence of light, air, and space, punctuated by the subtle evidence of the human presence. As we journey through the landscapes of Luces del Sur del Mundo, we are reminded of the enduring power of visual expression to capture the beauty and complexity of the world around us."

Unfortunately, I cannot make it to this event although Chile Lindo pastries and dulces chilenos will be served. I will meet with Lynne Maes in the future and we plan on collaborating on future events. The following is quite a story regarding a shawl that was brought from Chile to California in the 19th century and the family that owned it recently donated it to the Marin County Free Library. Read on for more details about this story and event.

MARIN COUNTY FREE LIBRARY OPEN HOUSE
The story of a shawl: Celebrating a Marin Family with Chilean Roots Exhibit
Introduction of the exhibit, in the words of Supervising Archivist, Charmaine Bonner:
A shawl belonging to Juana Mary Bosa Tilheras (1834-1910) was donated to the Anne T. Kent California Room by Bob Davidson in 2016. The deed of gift read “family tells that Juana brought the shawl from Chile to California and that it was passed down through several generations of daughters.”
I was intrigued by the story of a shawl that made the journey all the way from Chile to California so long ago and is still intact. I felt it was special that Juana’s history was passed down through the generations and immediately wanted to highlight this family’s history. I’ve used historical documents such as the United States Census and newspapers to learn about this family.--Charmaine Bonner, Supervising Archivist & Librarian, Anne T. Kent California Room
Following Charmaine's lead, we decided to organize our community open house program to honor the living presence of Chilean culture in the Bay Area - with food, music, and of course poetry!

Chile Lindo Empanadas at Keys Jazz Bistro in North Beach
Flashback to last August when I was guest chef at Keys Jazz Bistro. Chile Lindo empanadas were such a hit that I just met with the owner, Simon Rowe, and GM Eric Vance, to add Chile Lindo empanadas to their menu.
The venue is available for private parties and events that Chile Lindo can cater by special request.
