World leading energy technology makes debut
A first-of-its-kind system that uses the vast depths of Lake Ontario to boost Toronto's energy supply is being hailed as a major breakthrough in the area of energy storage. Representatives of Toronto-based start-up Hydrostor, Toronto Hydro and Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) - which supported the energy project from the outset - gathered last week to celebrate the official launch of the exciting new technology.  
New program will expand development of Ontario agri-based bioproducts

Through the new $3-million Agri-Based Industrial Bioproducts (ABIB) R&D Challenge, OCE and the Agricultural Adaptation Council (AAC) will partner with the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), academia and the bioproducts industry to fund approximately 10 projects. 
OCE and CCAA strengthen Ontario-China investment ties with new partners

Building on an existing partnership, OCE and China Canada Angels Alliance (CCAA) will add partners Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park (ZHSP), a high-tech innovation centre in Beijing, often referred to as China's Silicon Valley, and River Capital, an investment fund based in China.

Celebrating the future of academic incubators - UBI Awards in North America

On November 2 and 3, 2015, UBI Global and OCE co-hosted a benchmarking conference and award ceremony for the 2015 top performing university business incubators in North America. The event was held at Toronto's TIFF Bell Lightbox.
