Project Spotlight | 16th Street Alley Lighting
Last fall, ODIDA upgraded lighting in the alley between 15th and 16th Streets to improve visibility, comfort, and safety after dark.
The project added six LED fixtures with automatic dusk-to-dawn photocells, with light aimed at walking surfaces, doors, and service areas while minimizing glare and spill into the street.
It is a strong example of how targeted improvements can support nearby businesses, residents, and safer shared spaces.

Stakeholder Reminder | Alley Maintenance Matters
Downtown alleys are more than back entrances. They are essential corridors for trash pickup, deliveries, emergency access, and everyday operations.
ODIDA’s alley maintenance article is a helpful reminder that while alleys are part of the public right of way, upkeep responsibilities fall to property owners, including snow and ice removal, pavement repairs, and routine cleaning.
The piece also explains how clean, accessible alleys support safety, curb appeal, and smoother operations for everyone Downtown.

Downtown in the News | Stay Connected to the Bigger Story
The new website also makes it easier to follow how Downtown Omaha is being covered beyond ODIDA channels.
The District News section now brings together newsletters, announcements, project updates, and a dedicated Downtown in the News area that links to outside media coverage.
It is a useful way to stay informed on the broader conversation around Downtown’s growth, activity, and momentum.

There is always something happening in Downtown Omaha, and the Events Calendar makes it easier to see it all in one place.
From live music and art walks to festivals, parades, and seasonal activities, the calendar helps residents, businesses, and visitors stay in the loop and plan ahead.
It is also part of the new Downtown Happenings hub, which brings together the Events Calendar, Art in Downtown, attractions, and major Downtown projects so people can quickly find ideas, make plans, and enjoy more of what Downtown has to offer.
| New Website | A New Home for Downtown Information | |
ODIDA’s refreshed website is now live, built to make Downtown information easier to find, easier to share, and easier to use.
The new layout brings together events, projects, resources, and district updates in one clear place, with simpler pathways for stakeholders, residents, and visitors.
You can now more quickly access reporting tools, board information, transit links, community resources, and Downtown happenings all from one hub.
