OER Hosts Summit on IRA's Direct Pay Provisions for Clean Energy Investment | |

This month, RI OER, in collaboration with the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank, Climate Jobs RI, Partnership for Rhode Island, and Compete RI, hosted a full-day summit aimed at helping state and local governments, as well as non-profit organizations, maximize federal funding for clean energy projects. The event highlighted how the Inflation Reduction Act’s Direct Pay provisions can empower communities across Rhode Island to make vital clean energy investments. Attendees participated in roundtable discussions focused on utilizing federal incentives to advance sustainability efforts and promote economic growth statewide.

Rhode Island Energy’s New ConnectedSolutions Electric Vehicle Demand Response (EVDR) Program | |

Rhode Island Energy is excited to announce the launch of its new ConnectedSolutions Electric Vehicle Demand Response (EVDR) Program! This program offers electric vehicle (EV) owners the opportunity to earn financial incentives of up to $70 by enrolling their EV or EV Charger. Participants will help reduce electricity demand during peak times, supporting a cleaner, more efficient energy grid. To learn more and enroll, click here.
If your vehicle does not qualify for the EVDR program, you can participate through an approved EV charger. If you do not have one yet, the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources, in collaboration with the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank, is incentivizing Rhode Island residents to install EV charging infrastructure at their homes. The PowerUpRI program offers rebates specifically for residential EV charger installations.

EV Cost Recovery Policy - Public Comment Requested | |

The Office of Energy Resources (OER) is implementing a new cost recovery policy for electric vehicle charging stations located on state-owned properties. This initiative establishes a fair cost-recovery model to support the sustainable operation and maintenance of EV charging infrastructure.
OER is accepting comments through November 18th on the proposed fee structure and idle usage policy. All stakeholders and members of the public are invited to provide their feedback during this period.

Fall 2024 RI Agricultural Energy Program Deadline is Almost Here: November 1st! | |

Applications for the Rhode Island Agricultural Energy Grant Program close on November 1st, 2024. Rhode Island farmers are eligible for grants of up to $20,000 for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. With over 75 projects funded since 2016, RI farmers have been able to reduce their energy burden, lower their monthly energy costs, and reduce carbon footprint. For specific eligibility guidelines, please review our Program Guidance Document, and visit our website to learn more!

Join us for the ninth annual Plugged into Energy Research (PIER) lecture series on October 29th! This year's series will feature expert discussions on local, regional, and national energy issues, focusing on building a more resilient energy future for Rhode Island.
Hosted by the Rhode Island Energy Efficiency Council and URI Cooperative Extension, the PIER lectures are free and open to the public. Registration is required.
Comfortable, Healthy and Cost Effective: The Power of Home Energy Upgrades

Both lectures will be held at the Robert J. Higgins Welcome Center, 45 Upper College Road, Kingston, R.I. Parking is available directly behind the building in the Briar Lane Lot (Lot 1). Light refreshments will be provided.
This session will cover weatherization, home energy savings, and improving indoor air quality, with a focus on income-eligible programs. Experts from CLEAResult, the Comprehensive Community Action Program (CCAP) and RI Energy will explain the weatherization process and available resources. The discussion will be moderated by Priscilla de la Cruz, Director of Sustainability for the City of Providence.

Rhode Island Statewide Parcel Initiative | |

The RI Geographic Information Systems (RIGIS) Data Management Working Group (DMWG) is spearheading the Statewide Parcel Initiative as part of its efforts to improve data collaboration and acquisition for Rhode Island. This initiative aims to create a seamless and comprehensive parcel dataset by aggregating and translating municipal parcel data into a standardized format. The project does not seek to change local processes but to standardize data to benefit both municipalities and the state.
The DMWG has distributed a Municipal Parcel Survey to all 39 municipalities to help better understand municipal parcel polygon data. To date, 22 municipalities have participated, and this information will support the development of a unified Statewide Parcel dataset. This data will reduce redundant parcel requests, aid in emergency response, and improve planning and development reviews across the state.
