Nominate Your Energy Project for a

Lead by Example Clean Energy Award

Do you have a recent clean energy or efficiency project worthy of public recognition? We want to hear about it!

The Rhode Island of Office of Energy Resources (OER) is issuing a call for nominations for the Lead by Example Clean Energy Awards.

These awards will recognize state agencies, quasi-state agencies, municipal governments, and public schools for significant contributions toward the promotion and implementation of comprehensive clean energy measures that advance Lead by Example goals.

To be considered, complete this award application, answer the questions and submit it to OER by Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. Anyone may make project nominations. Projects from 2023 are eligible for awards. Please note that all projects MUST be at least 50% constructed. If submitting a photograph, please feel free to email it to us at the email below.

McKee Administration Showcases NEVI Phase 1 and Launches NEVI Phase 2 at Ashaway Park & Ride

Governor Dan McKee and the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources, in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM), showcased the progress of Phase 1 of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program at the Ashaway Park & Ride. Governor McKee also announced the launch of a survey to assist in the design of the NEVI Phase 2 Program, which will see the expansion of charging stations across Rhode Island. 

Phase 1 of the NEVI Program installed two new electric vehicle DC Fast Chargers (Level 3) at the Ashaway Park & Ride in Hopkinton and Route 117 Park & Ride in Warwick. These chargers are capable of charging an electric vehicle up to 80 percent within 20 to 40 minutes. 

The goal of the NEVI program is to make electric vehicles more accessible to all Americans for local and long-distance trips. Through the program, the state aims to make charging electric vehicles just as convenient as stopping for gas. In order to successfully do this, feedback is critical in the EV Charging Infrastructure Survey.

Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources Announces National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program Survey

Are you interested in having an EV charger closer to you or your job? OER, in collaboration with RI DOT and DEM, have released a survey that seeks feedback from the public on the placement of EV charging stations in Rhode Island. Public input is a crucial step to shaping the future of EV charging infrastructure. This feedback will further support the successful implementation and design of NEVI Phase 2.

Join us in celebrating a monumental leap forward for Rhode Island's blue economy and the clean energy sector. Witness the launch of "Gripper," the state-of-the-art crew transfer vessel dedicated to servicing the Ørsted and Eversource offshore wind projects. Constructed by Blount Boats and operated by American Offshore Services, Gripper symbolizes Rhode Island's leadership in offshore wind, job creation, and innovation.
