OESP Board Hosts Annual Spring Meeting
|
|
There was plenty of excitement about the upcoming Eastern Energy Expo, as more than 55 members of the OESP Board of Directors met in Atlantic City for the annual spring Board of Directors meeting.
“Things at the EEE are really shaping up,” OESP National President Scott Vadino said. “The booths sold out once, and then sold out again, and our block of hotel rooms at Harrah’s is nearing capacity, which is very exciting and shows the enormous interest in the conference.”
As always, there was plenty of camaraderie in the hospitality room. “It was great to see friends that haven’t been together in six months, since the Fall Oilheat Retreat,” Vadino said. “It is always a good time when OESP comes together. Thank you to Rick Glownia and George Perrelli for coordinating the food and spirits.”
There was also plenty of business, with reviews of all facets of the organization, as well as a focus on membership growth. Committee chairs gave optimistic reports about their areas and all agreed that things are looking great for OESP. “The restart of the Central Mass Chapter is particularly exciting for us,” membership chair George Fantacone said. “Thanks to Angel Gonzalez and Alan Wornham for all their work in helping to get things going.”
Finance Chair Charley Holmes was pleased to report that OESP finished with a profit for 2022. “Once again, for another fiscal year, we are ending in the black,” Holmes said. “We continue to do well largely due to the success of the Eastern Energy Expo and our careful stewardship of funds.”
The education team met after lunch to review the outstanding lineup of EEE courses that we have scheduled for you. You definitely won’t want to miss this opportunity at the Atlantic City Convention Center!
While the focus is EEE, we are already planning for next year. Are you interested in a leadership position with OESP on a national level? If so, please talk with your chapter president. The more hands, the better, as OESP focuses on more events, more members and more professional growth.
See you at EEE!

Thanks to a bet aimed at Scott Vadino and Justin Romano to wear slippers for the day, members of OESP raised $4,000 for Oil Heat Cares at this weekend's Board of Director's meeting in Atlantic City, NJ

The Westchester Chapter had an excellent meeting this month. ECR Utica presented its electric boiler, of great interest in New York and Connecticut where there is a move to electrify devices. There is more interest than ever. The correct sizing of the boiler was covered, as well as the importance of appropriate electric service related to proper installations. ECR also offered to help train our local Saunders High School students. Because instructor Chris Montalvo was there with a half dozen students, this offer was gratefully accepted.

The newly restarted board of the Central MA chapter is very excited to report that it held its first meeting after restarting the chapter. The meeting was held at J. Anthony’s Italian Grill with a great turnout of more than 20 members and guests. Joseph Beliveau of Emerson Swan spoke about HRV and ERV units and Indoor Air Quality. Kudos to Alan Wornham, Bob Mercer and Angel Gonzalez for pulling this chapter back together and organizing a great meeting. Here’s to many more in the future!

Message from the Executive Director
|
Hello OESP! It was a pleasure seeing so many of you at the BOD meeting held last month at Caesars in Atlantic City. It was the best-attended spring meeting in recent history with more than 55 board members there. And it was a terrific location for OESP leadership around the region to meet and have some fun. I hope that a great time was had by all, as we planned for the EEE and other programming coming up.
Registration is now open for EEE attendees; we are pleased to offer a full array of educational opportunities for the entire conference. Click HERE to register.
Registration will feature discounts to OESP members who want to attend the technical education track. Click HERE for the technical course schedule being offered. You can also view the list of free courses that will be offered for trade show attendees.
New this year: an early bird discount for anyone who registers before May 6. Save $20. So go ahead, click HERE and register right now!
OESP is once again offering a subsidy for any chapter that wishes to send a bus of attendees to the EEE. The subsidy form can be downloaded HERE. Please contact me in the association office no later than April 22 to let me know you are sending a bus – the buses must be registered with the hotel.
And for students, don’t miss the Technical Career Center featuring a panel discussion of information you need to know. In the afternoon, the trade show will be open for students to see the latest and greatest products and services. We will also provide access to several free training classes that students are urged to attend. If you are an instructor or administrator, please contact me at lstrug@thinkoesp.org for details.
Looking for a great outing at the EEE? We hope you will join us to support the Dave Nelsen Scholarship at our annual golf outing. The Dave Nelsen Golf Outing will tee off on Monday, May 22 at the Blue Heron Golf Course as a key fundraiser for the scholarship fund. Online registration is now open – click HERE to register or become a sponsor.
Join us at the OESP Awards banquet to honor our industry award winners and scholarship recipients. We look forward to honoring these deserving individuals at this not-to-miss event.
Please be sure to visit the OESP booth at the EEE – we will be stationed inside the exhibit hall as you walk in. Please pick up your badge ribbons so you can display that you are a proud OESP member. This year, the association will be celebrating its 70th anniversary. Be on the lookout for some great anniversary swag when you attend the banquet.
We will also be selling the super-cool OESP black zip-up hooded sweatshirts. The cost is just $50 and we expect a quick sell out, so don’t delay. You’ll be able to purchase these on the spot at the OESP booth.
By now, you have seen plenty from our great and generous advertisers. Taco, R.W. Beckett, Suntec Industries, Carlin/Hyrdolevel, General Filters, Sid Harvey, Roth, Weil-McLain, Energy Kinetics and F.W. Webb. You will see their logos at the top of this issue and you’ll see OESP happily promote them at every turn.
Call us so your logo can be there too!
This year, the Care to Ride benefiting Oil Heat Cares will take place during the Fall Oilheat Retreat in Saratoga Springs, NY, the weekend of September 21-24. Please stay tuned for further details.
Oil Heat Cares has been on the move in every region of OESP with installations being done consistently. Thank you to the team led by OHC Chair, Dave Bessette for enabling well-deserving people to be warm and safe over the past winter. Thank you to the service companies who have generously donated their time and supplies. If you haven’t visited oilheatcares.com recently, take a look – many completed projects are posted there. We are tremendously proud of Oil Heat Cares.
On behalf of Jonathan Jaffe, Meredith Levy, Andrea Klimkowski and the rest of the OESP management team, it continues to be a pleasure to serve such a proactive organization focused on member service. OESP is known for its mission of education and service. We are happy to be a part of that.
See you in Atlantic City!
