Oil Heat Cares to the Rescue in CT.

The Fairfield County chapter learned of Beverly Wright, an elderly woman in poor health, who found herself without heat and hot water in her residence.

A volunteer from Christ the Redeemer Church in Southbury, CT promptly responded to her call for help and discovered that she had no food in her cupboards, as well. The Chapter immediately sprang into action to assist.

Richard Hunt stepped up to purchase groceries for Ms. Wright and address the water leakage from her hot water heater through Oil Heat Cares (OHC).

OHC intervened to restore her hot water supply by replacing the malfunctioning Phase-III indirect heater with a new Vaughn S35TTP indirect water heater. This Vaughn S35TTP unit was generously donated by Bell/Simons in Bridgeport, courtesy of Joe Denitto. Volunteer labor was provided by Jason Dayton of JBD Services and Ryan George of Ryan D George Services, both based in Newtown, CT.

Gratitude is extended to all involved for their contributions in helping Ms. Wright.

The January meeting had a great crowd of 54 members and guests. Among the attendees were esteemed retirees and longtime members Bob Chapman, Lou Urban, and Charlie Masone.

Doug Adams of Altherm, another veteran member who recently retired, also attended, and we were delighted to thank him for his years of friendship.

Additionally, we welcomed eight students from the Electrical Trade Center, with special appreciation to Sal Ferrara for facilitating their attendance each month and to John Manning of RW Beckett for sponsoring their dinners this time.

Our guest speaker, Bob Melinis, provided insights into the latest advancements at Weil McLain. Bruce Bartlett of Platsky had a stroke of luck, winning the raffle twice!

Message from the Executive Director
by Lisa Strug

Hello OESP members! It's that time of year again – Spring is in full swing!

Mark your calendars for the upcoming Spring Board of Directors meeting, scheduled from March 21-24 at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA. As your read through this newsletter, you’ll find out all the great details of events happening over that weekend. Don’t miss it!

If you haven't already, please ensure you RSVP to secure your spot. Click HERE to register or call to reserve your hotel room.

We're pleased to acknowledge our Corporate Partners who continue to support OESP as 2024 annual sponsors: Taco, R.W. Beckett, Suntec Industries, Carlin/Hyrdolevel, General Filters, Sid Harvey, Roth, Energy Kinetics and Weil-McLain. You will see their logos at the top of this issue and you’ll see OESP gratefully promote them at every turn.

If you want your company to join them as an Annual Sponsor, please contact OESP headquarters for more information on special packages. We will be very happy to hear from you.

Believe it or not, the Eastern Energy Expo is just around the corner and is returning to Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. Registration for EEE attendees will open soon, offering a diverse range of educational opportunities for all attendees. New this year, all OESP members can attend absolutely FREE, courtesy of the OESP Board of Directors. This includes access to the technical education track, yet another benefit of membership.

I would also like to take a moment to recognize the first few OESP sponsors of the EEE. Thank you:

  • Expo Sponsors: R.W. Beckett, Rinnai and Taco
  • Technical Education Sponsors: Carlin/Hydrolevel and Weil McLain
  • Lanyard Sponsor: Sid Harvey’s
  • Own the Classroom Sponsors: Resideo, Sauermann and Seitron Americas.

As you very well know, membership in OESP provides invaluable connections to our industry as well as endless opportunities for networking and training. The association depends on its members to keep the wheels turning. So, please keep current with your dues. Paper invoices were mailed at the end of January for those who did not reply to the emailed version. If you typically receive your invoice by mail, please provide us with your email address so that we can send it via email moving forward.

For those who have not had a chance to renew your membership, please expect to hear from your chapter’s membership chair in a few weeks. Also, please provide updated information so that we can send your invoice promptly. If you have questions, please contact me at lstrug@thinkoesp.org or 888-552-0900.

Looking for a great outing at the EEE? The Dave Nelsen Golf Outing will take place on Monday, May 20 at the Elmridge Golf Club as a fundraiser for the scholarship fund. Player registration will be open along with EEE Registration shortly.

Sponsorships are still available. Please check with your company to see if you can lend support to the future of the industry (and have a lot of fun in the process.) Click HERE for available sponsorships.

OESP is also seeking support for the very important Dave Nelsen Scholarship fund. This scholarship has provided more than $300,000 in financial aid to students pursuing careers in the oil and energy field. Thank you to our early sponsors, RW Beckett, the OESP Southeast PA Chapter and the OESP New York Area Chapters, for their generous support of this worthy cause.

You can also book your hotel room now, so don’t delay. Click HERE for reservation details.

You won’t want to miss the OESP opening reception being held on Monday, May 20 in conjunction with the EEE Hospitality night. It will be held in the Uncas Ballroom at Mohegan Sun. The evening promises a night of good food, drinks and friendship.

And, of course, there’s the annual awards banquet on Tuesday night, May 21, where we will honor our own who have worked so hard on our behalf, and we will also honor some exceptional future members of our industry. OESP is accepting applications for these very important awards. They will be presented at the banquet. When registration opens, please purchase your tickets ASAP.

On behalf of Jonathan Jaffe, Meredith Levy, Andrea Klimkowski, and the rest of the OESP management team, thank you for the opportunity to serve this great Association. We look forward to seeing you in Hershey!
