Saratoga Springs, NY:

The Ultimate Fall Retreat Destination

This year’s Fall Retreat took place last month in Saratoga Springs, NY, one of the oldest tourist destinations and home to world-class horse racing.

A productive time was had by all, as members and their spouses were able to come together to work and relax over the weekend, while also having some fun!

Pictured above, the education committee started planning EEE 2024 at Mohegan Sun and can't wait to share all the exciting things that are brewing.

Members and guests enjoyed a lively, narrated tour of the Saratoga Racetrack grounds. Attendees learned the vast history of the site and the many horses who raced there.

On Saturday, during the OESP board meeting, the spouses enjoyed spa appointments and lunch.

A great time was had by all!

Care to Ride

The Annual Care to Ride event, benefiting Oil Heat Cares, was held in Saratoga Springs, NY at the OESP Fall Board Retreat. There was a small, but mighty, group made up of attendees from Team CT, along with one person from the RI Chapter. The group stopped in Lake George, rode up along the lake on Rte 9N to Fort Ticonderoga and took the Rte 22 scenic byway back. They enjoyed lunch at Battle Hill Brewery in Fort Ann, NY.

It was a beautiful day for a ride!

Bocce Ball Fundraiser

Oil Heat Cares held a bocce ball fundraiser at Bob Daros’ home in Westchester. More than $2,500 was raised for Oil Heat Cares. Food was generously provided by Heritage Fuel and Guaranteed Chimney.

A good time was had by all!

Long Island Supports Oil Heat Cares

Shane Pitta of All Dry presented a check for $1,000 to National President, Scott Vadino at the OESP Fall Retreat in Saratoga Springs. Thanks again to Shane and All Dry for sponsoring the trip to raise the donated funds for Oil Heat Cares.

Message from the Executive Director
by Lisa Strug

Welcome to fall!

It was great to see so many of you at the Fall Retreat in Saratoga Springs, NY last month. It was a weekend of work and play as nearly 50 OESP members and guests gathered to kick off the fall heating season. I hope that you were able to relax and have some fun in downtown Saratoga.

Details on the Spring BOD meeting will be coming soon. It will be held March 21 – 24, 2024 returning to an old venue, Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA.  We are looking forward to getting back to the “sweetest place on Earth.”

Planning is also underway for the Eastern Energy Expo, scheduled for May 19-22, 2024 at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. The amazing venue will hold all the exhibitors under one roof and will give attendees a great venue to network and socialize with industry professionals.

We are in the midst of planning a very dynamic schedule for you, including technical education classes and training. You also won’t want to miss the OESP Opening Reception and Awards Banquet, promising to be better than ever.

We will once again host the Care to Ride on Monday, May 20. We look forward to riding through the roads of Connecticut – it is sure to be a not-to-miss event.  Bikers, walkers and runners are also welcome!  Routes will be provided for all!

The Dave Nelsen Scholarship golf outing will also take place on Monday, May 20. We will be playing at the Elmridge Golf Course in Pawcatuck, CT.  We are depending on all of you to help keep the scholarship fund growing to continue our mission of education. And of course, we’ll have a great time doing it. So, join us!

We are always looking for new service managers and technicians to join the Association. Do you have friends or colleagues who would benefit from membership in OESP? Bring them along to a fall meeting.  It is more important than ever to continue to grow our great Association and educate the next generation of industry professionals.

New members can join now and get a “nearly 2 for 1” on the upcoming heating seasons.  They will get the remainder of 2023 and all of 2024 included in one price!

On the business side: your membership dues invoices for 2024 will be going out shortly.

If you pay your dues electronically, you will receive an email with instructions to pay your bill online. Your invoice will be delivered to your email.  Simply click the link – your link is unique to you, so no login will be required. If you receive your invoice by mail, please send us your email address so that we can save a few trees and email you your invoice.

OESP is always looking for people who are interested in making a difference in their career and this great Association.  One of the ways is by providing networking opportunities to help grow your business.

Everyone wants to work with people who they know and trust, so get involved in your local chapter and experience the difference it will make for you. Please contact OESP HQ or your chapter president to learn how you can make a bigger difference.

We would like to thank our loyal and generous advertisers for their support this year.  Thank you, once again, to Taco, R.W. Beckett, Suntec Industries, Carlin/Hyrdolevel, General Filters, Wohler, Sid Harvey, Roth, Weil-McLain, Energy Kinetics and F.W. Webb. We are now open for 2023 advertisers - your company could be in the next issue of the always-popular OESP News. Contact us to find out how.

On behalf of Jonathan Jaffe, Meredith Levy, Andrea Klimkowski and the rest of the OESP management team, it continues to be a pleasure to serve the association. We wish you the very best for a terrific fall season. See you soon.
