Despite the cold weather, the Westchester chapter meeting last month was a huge success with an excellent turnout of 34 attendees. The guest speaker was Pat Somma speaking about “The Tank Crank”, a device that assists with oil tank removal from a basement, allowing one person to remove the tank. This product was developed and patented by Pat, President of Blue Flame Oil in New Haven, as a solution to a problem they were having in the field. The device is lightweight and allows the technician to remove a tank with or without stairs by himself. Having had similar issues, our attendees welcomed his presentation with great interest.
Our own Bob Daros presented the tech talk and discussed tank installations and proper methods of installing tanks to meet safety requirements and proper codes. Drawing on his years of experience as a company owner, he passed along a tremendous amount of knowledge to our members who were anxious to gain his information and expertise.

Tech night had 40+ members and guests in attendance to hear Dave Holdorf, Senior Tech Trainer for Taco Comfort Solutions, speak about hydronic systems, application of ECM circulators, and troubleshooting of systems. Dave also covered common hurdles that techs often run into in basements. A great time was had by all.

Hello OESP! Spring is in the air and if you haven’t signed up yet for the spring board meeting or Saturday night dinner, please click HERE to register.
I invite you to take note of the Corporate Partners who have once again graciously agreed to support OESP as 2023 annual sponsors – Taco, R.W. Beckett, Suntec Industries, Carlin/Hyrdolevel, General Filters, Sid Harvey, Roth, Energy Kinetics and F.W. Webb. You will see their logos at the top of this issue and you’ll see OESP happily promote them at every turn.

It is unbelievable to think, but the conference is right around the corner! Registration is opening shortly for EEE attendees; we are pleased to offer a full array of educational opportunities for the entire conference. Once again, registration features discounts to OESP members who want to register for the technical education track. This is just another way that your OESP membership pays off.
We must thank our valuable EEE Sponsors – your support is pivotal to our success: Expo Sponsors: ADD Systems,Beckett, Federated Insurance, Rinnai and Taco; Technical Education Sponsors: Resideo, Carlin/Hydrolevel, F.W. Webb and Weil-McLain; Shuttle Sponsor: Sid Harvey’s. Own the Classroom Sponsors: AFS, Sauermann and Seitron Americas.
As you very well know, membership in OESP provides you with invaluable connections to our industry as well as endless opportunities for networking and training. The association depends on its members to keep the wheels turning. So, please keep current with your dues. Paper invoices were mailed at the end of January for those who did not reply to the emailed version. If you typically receive your invoice by mail, please provide us with your email address so that we can send it that way in the future.
For those who have not had a chance to renew, please expect to hear from your chapter’s membership chair in a few weeks. Also, please provide updated information so that we can send your invoice promptly. If you have questions, please contact me at lstrug@thinkoesp.org or 888-552-0900.
Looking for a great outing at the EEE? The Dave Nelsen Golf Outing will take place on Monday, May 22 at the Blue Heron Pines Golf Club as a fundraiser for the scholarship fund. Player registration will open with EEE Registration shortly.
Sponsorships are available. Please check with your company to see if you can lend support to the future of the industry (and have a lot of fun in the process.) Click HERE for available sponsorships.
OESP is also seeking support for the very important Dave Nelsen Scholarship fund. This scholarship has provided more than $300,000 in financial aid to students pursuing careers in the oil and energy field. Thank you to our early sponsors, Carlin/Hydrolevel and Pompetti Oil, for their generous support of this worthy cause.
You can also book your hotel room now, so don’t delay. Click HERE for reservation details.
You won’t want to miss the OESP opening reception being held on Monday, May 22 in conjunction with the EEE Hospitality night. It will be held at Harrah’s Resort Casino, the EEE host hotel in Atlantic City. The evening promises a night of good food, drinks and friendship.
And, of course, there’s the annual awards banquet on Tuesday night, May 23, where we will honor our own who have worked so hard on our behalf, and we will also honor some exceptional future members of our industry. OESP is accepting applications for these very important awards. They will be presented at the banquet. When registration opens, please purchase your tickets ASAP.
On behalf of Jonathan Jaffe, Meredith Levy, Andrea Klimkowski, and the rest of the OESP management team, thank you for the opportunity to serve this great Association. We look forward to seeing you in Atlantic City!
