Ninth Annual Ann Arbor Japan Week

The U-M Wallace House Center for Journalists is welcoming a cohort of 19 Journalism Fellows. The Fellows are accomplished journalists, typically 10 years or more into their careers, who represent nine countries and a broad cross-section of the U.S. You can read more about the incoming Fellows here. U-M Epidemiology Research Assistant

Brief Description: The University of Michigan Department of Epidemiology is seeking a Research Assistant to support a qualitative research project examining the health consequences of climate change, disasters, and colonialism in Puerto Rico. The overarching goal of this study is to describe the experiences of Puerto Ricans who have been exposed to multiple disasters, their physical and mental health trajectories during these periods, barriers and protective factors to disaster adjustment, and the contrast between different disaster experiences. The study will involve conducting in-depth interviews with current residents of Puerto Rico who lived in the U.S. territory between 2017 and 2022. The research assistant will support qualitative data collection and analysis activities including but not limited to the following: scheduling interviews, accompanying the principal investigator during interviews and taking notes, transcribing interviews, supporting interview coding, and other research-related activities.
